Last night yet another synagogue, this time in Kenton, was targeted in a cowardly arson attack. It follows the attack in Finchley on Wednesday and the attempted attack on what was the Jewish Futures building in Hendon on Friday night, making three Jewish sites attacked in London in less than a week. A sustained campaign of violence and intimidation against the Jewish community of the UK is gathering momentum. This sustained attack on our community’s ability to worship and live in safety is an attack on the values that bind us all together. Thank God, no lives have been lost, but we cannot, and must not, wait for that to change before we understand just how dangerous this moment is for all of our society.

Our cab driver asked, “Do you want to hear a Jewish joke?” I stopped. My husband's face went still. A one-second silence that contained a lot. Ibrahim added quickly: “You’re both Jewish, yes?” I said, “Yes." Read the rest of the story at link in first comment:

@FWolfisz @DailyMail I’m at Gail’s in Archway now (Friday morning). Came out of my way to visit. It’s a lovely site. The paint has gone and it’s full of nice people enjoying and supporting a business serving and employing those in the community.

Pro-Palestine vandals daubed the words 'Free Gaza' and threw red paint over a newly opened branch of Gail's in Archway, north London, as activists accused the bakery chain of 'funding Israel'. mol.im/a/15574695 via @DailyMail

Dear West, We told you this would happen. You ignored us and let people continue to call for our murder in the name of ‘free speech’. But it was hate speech and this is what it led to.

@Keir_Starmer It's just words Prime Minister. It's a problem across the West. You have stood by out of fear of tackling people that have amplified the behaviours of the worst terrorists, allowing marches calling for "globalising the Intifada" and courts acquiting people shouting "khybar khybar

Chanukah should be a time of celebration and joy. The news that the Bondi beach attack was an antisemitic terrorist attack against Jewish families at a Chanukah event is sickening. My thoughts are with the victims and their families. The United Kingdom will always stand with Australia and the Jewish community. We are actively working with the @CST_UK on the policing of Chanukah events.

@RachelReevesMP @UKParliament Now you've delivered this budget after months of leaks to placate your coalition, when does the leaking for next year's budget start? Nothing like paralysing markets for months on end for the sake of your internal-party politics.

*Heaton Park Shul Crisis Fund* The horrific attack at Heaton Park Synagogue in Manchester shook communities around the world to their core. In Manchester, lives have been shattered, families are mourning, and the Synagogue itself bears the scars of violence. They are now asking for help to repair, rebuild, and heal. A donation to this fund will support: The injured & bereaved families — with urgent financial aid and care. The community — through counselling and recovery initiatives. The shul — repairing damage & strengthening safety for the future. Heaton Park has always been a place of faith and unity. With your help, it will continue to be. Please give generously and stand with the Heaton Park Community today. charityextra.com/heatonpark

I was released from Hamas captivity in January and I am a die hard fan of Maccabi Tel Aviv. I am shocked to my core with this outrageous decision to ban me, my family and my friends from attending an Aston Villa game in the UK. Football is a way of bringing people together irrespective of their faith, colour or religion and this disgusting decision does the exact opposite. Shame on you. I hope you come to your senses and reconsider. I do wonder what exactly has become of British society, this is like putting a big sign on the outside of a stadium saying “No Jews allowed” What has become of the UK where blatant antisemitism has become the norm? What a sad world we are living in.

I welcome the news that Maccabi Tel Aviv fans will not be permitted to watch the match at Aston Villa! Well done to all those that signed our petition!

@sirwg202110 @Lyndagee49 @Keir_Starmer Good to see our Prime Minister be unequivocal that he takes a different view to the Mayor of London who seemed to adopt the approach of the fallen Ivy League heads last year, that somehow there might be a context that should be considered where that statement is not antisemitic.

@matthewsyed I read this brilliant article but found it thoroughly depressing and chilling, and sadly not altogether a surprise. With all the efforts society has made to be fairer to all each other over decades, we have allowed a particular hatred to spread and I'm not sure how it goes away.

The Palestine Action protesters have been characterised as warm, decent, cuddly. I went to talk to them and the mask slipped. Just a question or two about what they really think exposed the increasingly potent and assertive antisemitism in the UK thetimes.com/article/650ab7…

Tonight, outside Downing Street, crowds are chanting “long live the Intifada.” Throughout the day, we have seen marches glorifying terrorists, celebrating murder, and waving banners calling for the destruction of Israel - and, by extension, the genocide of Jews. Their heroes are Hamas: terrorists who butchered families, burned babies, and kidnapped grandmothers. And they want everyone to know it. On Thursday, two Jews were murdered in cold blood in Britain for being Jewish. That is what an Intifada looks like. For 48 hours, the Prime Minister, the Home Secretary, and senior politicians have told people not to attend these marches. They went ahead anyway, with Swastikas, pro-Hamas posters, and open calls for “jihad.” The Prime Minister said he would do “whatever it takes” to protect the Jewish community. So where is he? What has he done? Every synagogue I know was scrambling to increase security this weekend. Jewish schools are on edge. Parents are frightened. This is Britain in 2025. We were promised protection. We were promised leadership. We were promised “whatever it takes.” Instead, we are left with fear and silence. If this is not the moment to act, what is? The Jewish community fears another attack may be coming, and we can all see that nothing is being done to stop the marches of radicalisation that encourage it. But remember, the Prime Minister says he is doing “whatever it takes.”

I’m told the PM, Foreign Secretary and Chancellor of the Exchequer all attended the West London synagogue this evening to give comfort to the Jewish community. I’m not sure how they were received.

Our hearts are shattered. Emerging from the holy fast of Yom Kippur, British Jews are now grasping the full extent of today’s terror attack at the Heaton Park Synagogue in Manchester. This is the day we hoped we would never see, but which deep down, we knew would come. For so long we have witnessed an unrelenting wave of Jew hatred on our streets, on campuses, on social media and elsewhere – this is the tragic result. This not only an assault on the Jewish community, but an attack on the very foundations of humanity and the values of compassion, dignity and respect which we all share. I have spoken this evening to Rabbi Daniel Walker, the spiritual leader of the Heaton Park Synagogue. His courageous leadership, together with the resilience of his congregation, are an inspiration to us all. May the victims’ memories be for a blessing and may the injured be granted a swift recovery. I pray that this tragedy strengthens our collective resolve to confront antisemitism, in all its guises, once and for all.
