I think all will be uncovered when the next big Mario or Zelda like 1st party game pricing is revealed.

Nintendo are trying to present it as digital games getting cheaper but in reality they are probably revising their unannounced prices upwards to line up with their new variable pricing strategy. In the end it will likely be a price increase for fans of physical media IMO.
