Here are mine: Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, and Patrick O’Brian’s Master and Commander. I could add Frank Herbert’s DUNE and Kim Stanley Robinson’s Red Mars. Maybe Carl Sagan’s The Demon-Haunted World, or Andrew Chaikin’s A Man on the Moon. Or multiple David McCullough books. But still... nothing’s had more relevance for me than these three.

There really was no way to discuss it. The internet was in its early stages. My college roommate set up a TREK BBS in our apartment which could handle 20 people at a time (!!!), but it was only text.
