Russia parks its rarest fighter jets deep in the Urals to keep them safe. That isn't working anymore. Ukrainian drones reached the Shagol airbase in Chelyabinsk Oblast on 25 April — 1,700 km from the border — and damaged several Su-57 stealth fighters and a Su-34 fighter-bomber, the General Staff confirmed this week. Russia has fewer than 30 Su-57s in service. The aircraft was meant to anchor Russia's export pitch to foreign buyers as a fifth-generation stealth fighter. After Ukrainian pilots neutralized its early combat appearances, Russia pulled it back from active operations over Ukraine — and kept the surviving fleet at bases the Kremlin assumed were beyond Ukrainian drone range. Satellite imagery from Telegram channel Exilenova+ shows Russian crews clearing the strike site and two Su-57s relocated to a different part of the apron after the hit. The Shagol strike landed in the same week Ukrainian drones reached Yekaterinburg for the first time. This is the same prosecutor who wouldn't bring any charges against Maudro while his sister-in-law served as a lawyer for that regime. The levels of corruption are insane.
