After Patrick delivered his intro you could tell that Josh was in way over his head. He spent the whole time talking in circles using the biggest words he could find. Pat and Nathan didnt even get to debate the math and science with him. But there is definitely some solid stuff in there if you can move past the bickering.

But it absolutely disproves the notion that there is curvature causing that to happen, which is one of the most common "proofs" of a globe.

This debate was a HUGE mess. I initially liked Patrick; he’s the only one who can act civilly. But he lied about multiple things (99% of earth receiving sunlight, telescope ‘bringing back’ things past the horizon/curvature, claiming rounded horizon doesn’t prove curvature) so I can’t trust him. Nathan’s explanation about why the bottoms of boats disappear first made no sense, and he was SUCH an obnoxious jerk. Josh was also annoying. Lots of sophistry from them both.

I absolutely do and I'm in favor of cops for the most part. But to say that this is what they do all day long is asinine. 99% of the time they are running license plates and writing inspection tickets. If all they did all day long is rescue people that would be ideal but it's just not the case. They spend most of their time imposing fines on citizens who aren't hurting anyone. It's a form of forced tax collection.

I think there might be some confusion about how curvature is being defined. The curvature I have seen is certainly subtle (especially with the the naked eye - I’ve been pretty high up in planes though I’ve only looked through windows - but those windows don’t make other flat things look curved, so I don’t think they add THAT much distortion). I’m not referring to seeing the edge of space or anything extreme like that. What I have personally seen is closer to flat than an arc, for sure. Very slight curvature, but I understand this is normal because of the size of the Earth. What I was referring to in my last tweet, with my naked eyes, I saw from mountains in the Caribbean. My sailing experiences, again just with my naked eyes, also confirm a globe earth.

Those search assistants didn’t exist 7 years ago. He became (very understandably) more aggravated because the flat earther accepted evidence which he hadn’t seen with his own eyes from other people if they were flat earthers, but not from people who believe in a globe. The very definition of irrational bias. I’d love to hear a convincing flat earth explanation, although it will need to explain why I, like Stefan, have seen the curvature with my naked eyes on many occasions. I am not ideologically attached to globe earth; hard evidence for the divine would thrill me. Maybe work on providing that rather than making inaccurate accusations.

These conversations are so much better in person because they can't Google answers in front of you without looking stupid. I love to ask the Julias of the world: 1. How big is the ball? 2. How fast is it moving? 3. Is the Sun moving? They NEVER know. And if an adult human being thinks that the Sun is standing still and we're moving around it because of a Styrofoam model they saw when they were 8 years old, that person is functionally retarded.
