Bumping as it looks near certain that Cooper will be the 5th rookie in last 30 yrs to hit these benchmarks of scoring (20+ ppg), creation of own offense (50%+ of FGM unassisted) & creation for others (10+ ppg created by assists).

Something I’ve been tracking lately for Cooper Flagg. The combo of total scoring, creating his own offense and creating offense for others (and doing all of this as a rookie and youngest player in the league). PPG: 20.4 % of FGM unassisted: 55.5% PTS/GM generated on assists: 11.1 Likely to join Iverson, LeBron, Tyreke Evans and Luka as the only rookies in last 30 seasons to: Score 20+ ppg, w/ 50%+ of FGM unassisted, and create 10+ ppg on assists to other players. Obvs more common w/ vets who are offensive reference points for their teams. 15 other players besides Cooper are doing that this season (Cade, SGA, Booker, Şengün, Avdija, Mitchell, Harden, Brunson, Luka, Murray, Jaylen Brown, Banchero, and Maxey…plus Giannis and Reaves who are non qualifiers due to not enough games played)

I still think overall, Knueppel has had the way better season. Flagg will likely be a better player long-term, but I’d have a hard time voting him for ROY over Knueppel’s historic year which includes reviving the hapless Hornets.

Since late November, Cooper Flagg is averaging 23 points, 6 boards, 5 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block per game. That's a 47-game span on a team missing starpower and hurting for shooting.
No player in the NBA has those averages this season.

The narrative that Kon Knueppel "impacts winning" as a prop for the ROTY race should not be accepted without contention.
The Hornets are a powerhouse team with LaMelo and Brandon Miller on the floor.
Take a look at Knueppel's 6 worst performances and the point differential between the teams:

I am by no means attacking Kon Knueppel as a player, or criticizing these performances. However, they are still blowing teams out when he does not perform. He certainly adds value to games when he is hot, but his production is not essential to the winning of the team.
I do know, if/when Cooper Flagg has an off-night, there is 0 chance that the Mavs are winning.
We've only won 25 games, but without Cooper, I'm not sure if we could have won 10.

3rd in points, 4th in assists, 5th in rebounding, 6th in steals, 8th in blocks, 6th in 2%. He isn't reviving the Hornets. Getting Miller and Ball back for most of the season is doing that. He's a REALLY good player and he's playing his role. A little different from constant doubles and creating your own offense and offense for others.
Jordan had a losing record his rookie year.
