Ray Shero put together a pretty impressive draft resume for both the #LetsGoPens and #NJDevils. I expected more of an NCAA - lean ... but no doubt the CHL was his first stop.

@hockeyalchemy Definitely not trashing your model, b/c Im sure there are big money D-man contracts your model likes too. Just interesting to notice maybe an area where analytics are still being negotiated, between the analytics community, and NHL decision makers.

@MikeMoore314 Yeah - it's a good callout. EVD is harder to evaluate from a model perspective but front offices have definitely mis-evaluated D-Men (particular those who don't put up points)

Told goaltender Ivan Fedotov has left AHL Cleveland and returned to Russia with an undisclosed injury.
He had moments with @monstershockey this season, but lost his way and lost the job to Zach Sawchenko.
Fedotov, 29, was 23-16-6 with an .887 save %. He’s UFA on July 1.

So let me get this straight: it’s a deep defensive draft… so you trade away a top 10 pick where you could lock up a younger player for up to 5 years…. for an older ( but very good) player…who can walk in 2 years as a free agent?

Draft week blockbuster: The Giants are trading three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence to the Bengals in a deal that will include the 10th overall pick going to New York, per ESPN sources. The Giants now head into Thursday night with the 5th and 10th overall picks.
