I had a model 3RWD with 250-ish miles. The stops on a very long road trip were fine. Now I have a model 3AWD with 350 miles degradation down to about 300 and I’ll tell you… Sometimes I wish there were stops that were closer because I want to take a break people that worry about Range. Don’t realize that they probably don’t drive close to 100 miles at all in a day, not even half that.

Unless you’re driving 500+ miles per day, you don’t need an EV with that much range. The average person drives around 37 miles per day. Current Tesla offerings provide way more than enough for the vast majority of people. On road trips, I can usually only drive about two hours before I need to get out, stretch my legs, etc. During that time, my car charges. It’s not the inconvenience people think it is. It doesn’t make sense to lug around a huge battery when most people don’t actually use that capacity.

When Tesla’s get to 500 miles per charge; I’ll think about one. BTW there’s an app that allows Waze to work. 🙄 #thinkIdontknow? 🥱😑

Tesla implemented a key card backup almost 10 years ago. Toyota is just implementing it now with their new RAV4. In legacy auto fashion, they treat it as some revolutionary new technology. 😂

Tesla services on matched. Even by those “luxury“ brands. I’ve had all sorts of service and all sorts of cities. I’ve had emergency windshield replacement, and even had a rubber trim coming out from my wheel well and they fixed it on the spot as I sat in the service center without even getting out of the car in Dallas. I could go off and on about how they have been perfect. When I had my last gas car when I went in for service, it just looked like the service people did not want to be there at all.

The Tesla service experience is genuinely unmatched. Dropping off your car and instantly hopping into a loaner with your cloud profile already synced (seat position, saved locations, music) is something no other automaker is doing today. Plus, from the parking spot in the back of the lot, I literally pressed a button and the car drove me home. I try not to be a total Tesla fanboy, but days like this make you appreciate how good the ownership experience actually is.

I really would love banish and I heard it’s going to be called auto park (unsupervised)! It’s just funny that we have the ingredients for banish already. The car will leave you at the door of a business in a parking lot. Or the car will park in a spot in a parking lot. However, right now we just won’t let you out and just do both.

Tesla Full Self-Driving V14.3 remains in active development; now tentatively releasing next month. The latest build of FSD, V14.2.2.5 released one month ago and V14.2 was first released in November 2025.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

@DBurkland @pbeisel It’s in testing right now. Wide release in a few weeks.

It’s charging speeds get to the same length of a gas car which is five minutes or so, that takes a negative item off the table for those that won’t switch. I also feel that on long road trips because I have a long range car, I sometimes need to stop more than the car does so I definitely don’t need more range. When I had a RWD model three, it was actually perfect for me on long road trips an hour and a half to two hours. However, now it is 2 1/2 to three hours, and I really enjoy stopping more than that

@elonmusk It’s come to the point where I don’t even think of driving anymore. I just get in the car press that self driving button on the screen and that’s it. That’s like my normal routine now sort of the same thing JeanClaude Van Dam does in the future in the movie timecop.

@MyLordBebo So she can crash into the side of the road and blame Tesla. It’s a very easy answer to the question I would say.

Tesla FSD is nothing short of magic. Just rented a Cybertruck, picked it up at the airport and it drove us directly to the Airbnb. None of the stress of a new city, new roads, new car. Had it for 5 days and never drove myself. It drove perfectly. So easy and liberating

They should just get rid of everybody having auto pilot or auto steer as it is now. I agree it’s outdated software and it’s just not needed. Just concentrate on FSD if you want to offer something that has adaptive Cruise/Lane keeping assist then make it an FSD version that just strips away all the other features but uses the same system that is nice and safe and modern that FSD uses for this.

@mikepat711 I love this because it didn’t do this at one point not that long ago. It sees flashing arrows and it moves over. It’s just so good now I always used to take over in construction zones now I don’t. I just look around and smile.

This outdated software? Do you mean the software that literally gets updated through over the air updates to everybody about every two weeks? that outdated software? I never have to take over. But if there is a situation where there is construction, people walking around, etc. you know I’m gonna be looking around and looking over my shoulder I mean for not for nothing there’s not much else you have to do just keep an eye around you and if you have to intervene, you’re ready to do it. And while you criticize FSD. If it was this bad there wouldn’t be billions of miles driven without any kind of incident and then this one person has an incident? Something wrong with this don’t you think?

Any response other than “we told everyone FSD needs to be supervised at all times, and the driver here clearly did not” creates an opportunity for the other side to exploit the “FSD is not to blame at all” argument. Clearly, FSD put the inattentive driver in a difficult situation here. No reason to defend this outdated software. This is bad PR by Tesla and all the fans.
Sawyer Merritt@SawyerMerritt

UPDATE: Elon Musk says the driver of this Cybertruck disengaged Autopilot four seconds before crashing, which means the driver was manually driving during this entire clip that Fox shared. Elon: "As anyone knows who uses it, that video is not how Autopilot drives."
