Scott Frost provided an update on QB Alonza Barnett following Saturday's sixth spring practice: "He's doing a lot of rehabbing right now. He's throwing some, kind of on his own, mostly working with the trainers and then getting involved in meetings and on the field kind of taking reps. He's getting a lot closer and we're kind of being really cautious with him to make sure that he's 100% ready to go before we put him out there. "I'm not concerned. He's played a lot of football and he'll catch up really fast, but I don't think we're very far away from him being able to take part in it." Full press conference: youtu.be/bfS_dv-DwGg

@drpablocorral Great post Doc. Could you please elaborate or point in the direction where more about this part can be found: "Modern hypercholesterolemia is not "normal." It is an ancestral survival advantage turned pathological by evolutionary mismatch."

👉 We spend decades arguing about how low to push LDL-C 👆 Almost no one asks the obvious question: 🤔 How much LDL-C did our ancestors actually have? The evidence exists — five independent lines, all converging on the same uncomfortable answer. 1️⃣ The term newborn. Before any dietary or metabolic influence, a healthy neonate arrives with LDL-C of ~30–50 mg/dL. That is the LDLR operating without environmental interference. Everything that rises after birth is acquired. 2️⃣ The Tsimane (Kaplan et al., Lancet 2017) — forager-horticulturalists of the Bolivian Amazon — have a LDL-C between 70 to 90 mg/dL and the lowest prevalence of coronary atherosclerosis ever recorded in any human population. Five times less than the U.S. in adults over 75. And their LDL is rising as roads and processed food arrive. 3️⃣ PCSK9 loss-of-function variants. African American carriers of nonsense mutations (Y142X/C679X, ~2% frequency): −28% LDL-C and −88% CHD risk over 15 years (Cohen et al., NEJM 2006). Homozygous LOF carriers live with LDL-C of ~15–30 mg/dL. Perfectly healthy. Nature already ran the trial. 4️⃣ Evolutionary genetics. Recent positive selection signals exist on gain-of-function PCSK9 variants that raise LDL-C — likely adaptive in food-scarce ancestral environments. Modern hypercholesterolemia is not "normal." It is an ancestral survival advantage turned pathological by evolutionary mismatch. 5️⃣ Great apes in natural habitat: ~40–70 mg/dL LDL-C. Same genome. Different environment. 👆 Bonus — Lp(a). The KIV-2 repeat expansion that raises Lp(a) is a derived, recent variant. Low-Lp(a) alleles are ancestral. Elevated Lp(a) is a textbook antagonistic pleiotropy signal — possibly protective against bleeding early in life, atherogenic over decades 📍The convergent estimate: ancestral LDL-C was ~30–70 mg/dL. 📍An LDL-C of 130 mg/dL is not "normal." It is normal for a Western society in evolutionary mismatch. Targets of <55 mg/dL in high-risk patients — which still feel aggressive to many clinicians — are, ironically, closer to the ancestral phenotype than what we call "normal LDL" in daily practice. 🤔 The question is not "is it safe to lower LDL this much?" The question is: why did we let it rise this high? @society_eas @nationallipid

Trump was the last democratic hope for White men. Remember, he was supposed to fix the immigration problem and mass deport. We got millions of H1B indians and the illegal latinos are allowed to stay. JD “race traitor” Vance is not going to be the guy who fixes things. Trump came in 2015 with his promises and it is 11 years later. That is almost an entire generational cycle and are demands are not being met. Politicians are shekel golems sent to delay the White man’s rage. They just want to stall the clock and allow the demographics to continue slipping away. Pretty soon White men will have to change from voting to disorder and chaos.

If anyone ever asks you what White culture is tell them to watch the Masters: decorum, deference, high trust, no theft, self-policing, good sportsmanship, prosperity, restraint, collective goodwill. It's a civilizational master class we put on for the world every year.

No it won’t. It actually locks in permanent enforcement measures (border security, mandatory E-verify, and ends catch and release for asylum seekers). None of these are currently codified in law, and until they are, they can keep being changed by the Executive. And therefore border and enforcement policy will keep changing whenever the White House changes. Participants in Dignity Program (not Amnesty) cannot become citizens and therefore cannot vote. The bill actually increases penalties for any illegal or non-citizen caught voting or attempting to vote, as well as for attempted border re-crossers, child sex traffickers, etc.
MOMof DataRepublican@data_republican

Do you know what will happen if Salazar's amnesty bill is passed and signed by President Trump? It will eventually cause even more illegal migration because it will further expectations of serial amnesty. All these new "legal" citizens will soon be voting. It will be adding millions to the social security and Medicare programs which is already in jeopardy. It rewards lawlessness. I'm a hard "NO" on this.

There’s a fundamental misconception about what “amnesty” really means. Amnesty is looking the other way: no consequences, no accountability, just more chaos. That’s the system we’ve had for decades. The Dignity Act ends it with enforcement, accountability, real penalties, and ZERO tolerance for criminals. That’s not amnesty. That’s law and order!

@CoffeeBlackMD Great points on all the right topics Doc. I don't see how weight loss, or physique in general, is anything less than the ultimate test of personal responsibility. It's a simple, but not easy, formula. And imo it's crucial for anyone trying to help others educate and enforce this

Long post. Maybe. Probably. FYI. Just some thoughts this evening after a long few days at the sick people factory. And they *are* sicker than they were a decade ago. It’s not a conspiracy. I’ve been working through a lot of ideas. Looking for a unifying framework of the mind about all things let’s call it … “better health” You all know my schtick. If I have one. It isn’t to directly sh*t on other doctors. (God bless the poor bastards) (Seriously) and act like the only knowing sage physician who “actually” cares about patients and just knows better what is going on. I am a healer. I think this was a calling. But I won’t try to make my bones by crapping on other members of the guild. It’s a tough job. I’ve been accused often enough recently of being arrogant. I don’t really think I am. But opinions are as they are. I think I’m pretty open. With a decent humility about what I know and don’t know. And. Look. Modern medicine has a lot to say and a lot of tools to help. I will never apologize for being allopathic. I use the chemicals. To treat diseases. This is a good thing. I don’t get paid by a pharmaceutical company to do so either. That’s just asinine. You guys know that right? Look. Here’s a doctor that gets paid to give talks. Ok. Look. Here’s a doctor that gets paid to consult. Ok. I’m going to make this very simple for you guys those are not normal, usual doctors. Your PCP ain’t getting sh*t from anyone for any med or any vaccine. Get a grip. Anyway. I’m trying to put together this big grand unifying theory of treatment for better health. And I’m working through a lot of these ideas. Some on the timeline. Some with the AIs available. Man. You can learn so much so fast with an AI if you know how to parse it. I’ve done statins recently. Convinced. These are tools. And good when they are good. If you don’t think so, I’m not your enemy. But. You’re wrong. But that’s ok. Never take them. If you think you need to be disagreeable about them, with me, you can f*ck right off. Currently working my way through the best way to approach weight loss. Metabolic syndromes. And insulin resistance. I’m picking up nuance fast. You can eat buttered ribeyes but it’s not magic. Nor necessary. It *is* one big energy equation. There is no way it can’t be. But it’s crafty. I’m not convinced that anyone I’ve run into yet has a unified theory. But I’ve found a lot of “this seems to often work” which is interesting to me. But also a lot of what seems too defeatist and placating. Weight isn’t (usually) a moral issue. But that doesn’t mean it’s free from individual responsibility. Which is key. But maybe also where so many miss the mark. Some by being assh*les about it. And some by abdicating what is a real locus of control. If you let it. The interventions. The when and how. Really require someone who can help on many levels. And I don’t think it’s going to be a physician. I’m too expensive to be doing that kind of micromanaging work, even if I can paint broad brush strokes. Coaches. With time. And knowledge You NEED to be both resistance training. And stressing your cardiovascular system. I think walking and running is best. I think a powebuilding protocol is best. You don’t want to be too big. You don’t want to be too thin. I sincerely believe that testosterone therapy is often the huge missing ingredient in any health improvement and weight loss approach. Roll your eyes if you want. But the best way to improve basic metabolic rate is adding muscle. Which testosterone will make happen much easier while resistance training. If you’re a weight loss doc and sleeping on testosterone, I think you should look at it closer. It’s awkward that so many “TRT clinics” are set up as cash machines. And the way some people talk about it can be hyperbolic and ridiculous. The thing is. There’s a framework here. I can really just feel it. Smell it. It’s a bit elusive still but I think I’m close. Will continue the work.
