As a former #NYPD Lieutenant and current public official, I understand the importance of public access to accurate information — but I also understand how that access can be abused or misused, jeopardizing public safety and possibly even human life in the process. With law enforcement agencies in New York and beyond moving to encrypt their radio frequencies for security purposes, some politicians in Albany are advocating to allow non-emergency personnel, like journalists, to access those communications still. I recently debated A3516, which would require law enforcement to allow some journalists to access those frequencies. It is law enforcement and other first responders whose monitoring of those frequencies must be treated as a priority. Though I voted NO on this bill, I urge @GovKathyHochul to amend it and include a 10 minute delay so that we can sustain public access while prioritizing public safety. Glad to stand behind NYS Assemblyman @MikeWReilly as he seeks re-election to the state legislature! His service to the 62nd Assembly District has been invaluable, and I’m confident that he’ll continue delivering meaningful results for our community. 🦅🗽

He thought he was keeping up with E-ZPass. Then a notice said he owed thousands. He says the bills went to an old address. The MTA says he evaded tolls & ignored notices. Tomorrow: part 2 of “Driven Into Debt.” How small debts explode and why many say the warning never came.
