Today I had the opportunity to shake hands with @MikeWReilly at Lobby Day in Albany. I shared how important it is to secure funding for UFT Teacher Centers across NYC, which support educators with the professional learning and resources we need to better serve our students. @UFT

Enough is enough — it’s time for accountability. Last year, my bill to fix New York’s #RaiseTheAge law — which currently lets 16- and 17-year-olds caught with loaded firearms avoid meaningful consequences by going to Family Court — was blocked by Albany Democrats. This loophole is driving a rise in teen gun possession and putting our communities at risk. I’m continuing to fight for common-sense reforms that ensure these young offenders face real consequences and that our families and neighborhoods are protected. Watch the discussion when the Albany Majority stopped the legislation from moving (starts at 3:40 minute mark) ⬇️ youtube.com/watch?v=CbNpnd…

As many people are enjoying the holiday, we are continuing to monitor and prepare for the upcoming snow.  Whatever comes our way, we are ready. Please follow your normal collection schedule, but know delays are possible after holidays, and before, during and after snow operations.  Stay safe and warm, NYC.

I appreciate @GovKathyHochul’s decision to veto the Keep Police Radio Public Act, recognizing the need to balance transparency with public safety and officer safety.

As a former #NYPD Lieutenant and current public official, I understand the importance of public access to accurate information — but I also understand how that access can be abused or misused, jeopardizing public safety and possibly even human life in the process. With law enforcement agencies in New York and beyond moving to encrypt their radio frequencies for security purposes, some politicians in Albany are advocating to allow non-emergency personnel, like journalists, to access those communications still. I recently debated A3516, which would require law enforcement to allow some journalists to access those frequencies. It is law enforcement and other first responders whose monitoring of those frequencies must be treated as a priority. Though I voted NO on this bill, I urge @GovKathyHochul to amend it and include a 10 minute delay so that we can sustain public access while prioritizing public safety. You can watch the full debate and an explanation of my vote below 👇

Regarding the Keep Police Radio Public Act 2025 @GovKathyHochul consider a veto or an amendment to require a 10 minute delayed public transmission.

@MikeWReilly @CBSNews What would really help is: lower the fines/penalties. Allow a grace period to pay b/f they assess. For those with balances, an amnesty where pay the tolls or go on payment plan and penalties are forgiven.

Zohran Mamdani says on NY1 he didn't get a congratulatory call from either Andrew Cuomo or Eric Adams last night. He says he got a congratulatory call from Curtis Sliwa, though.

@JohnDMacari @TheFinestCast .@JohnDMacari in my opinion the NYS Supreme Court victory by Judge Blum and BP Fossella. Island-wide seats is a more accurate measure. Additionally, two Council Seats stayed Rs. NS Council seat stayed D. Civil Court seat was created by State Dems set up to favor their enrollment.

NY1 is visiting neighborhoods across the five boroughs ahead of Election Day. Ayana Harry recently spent the day in Tottenville on Staten Island, where voters sounded off on issues including traffic and affordability. specne.ws/4M6Hpw
