They are fighting for their survival while the Westerners are worried about losing 5% in the stock market.

People keep asking me how this is going to end, as if there is some kind of magic bullet solution. There isn’t. Either the Strait standoff holds or Trump escalates, both of which produce more economic havoc and no better nuclear deal. Or Trump backs down and agrees to a weaker deal, but spins it. That’s it.

Ignore the noise. The U.S. and Iran still appear very far apart in their negotiating positions. Unless Trump is prepared to cave, and nothing suggests that he is, neither Trump’s pause of alleged strike plans—nor a future strike when talks don’t yield a deal in the coming days—is likely to change that dynamic.

I advised my Iranian friends more than a year ago not to put their eggs in Trump's basket. One of the few people who agreed with me then was the author of the post, Dr. Behrouz. On February 28, when the butcher Khamenei was killed, even I began to doubt whether my assessment was correct. In that sense it was wrong but given Trump's terrible moves since early April, it is clear that my original advice was sound.

It’s interesting how the President always has to be “asked” by some leader(s) to halt military action against the Islamic Republic regime (usually at the 11th hour), as if he has no will or independent thinking of his own, or too afraid to act upon his typically hollow threats.
Just 24 hours ago, @POTUS said the regime says one thing verbally and submits a completely different written message the next day. More than one month from the ceasefire that was predicated on opening of the Strait of Hormuz (which never happened), the mullahs/IRGC and their Pakistani and Arab interlocutors continue tapping him along with promise of a “deal.”
