@DerrickEvans4WV A crowd rushes at law enforcement officers to stop them from arresting someone. The officers respond by firing rubber rounds. Given the speed of the situation, I highly doubt the officer was intentionally aiming for the man's eye, but shit happens when you make dumb decisions.

@WorldByWolf Being the president of a socially conservative country doesn't make you a good leader or a good person. The question should also be asked: how many of those social stances pre-date Maduro and even Chavez? Did they create or inherit the social conservatism of Venezuela?

I'm as reflexively non-interventionist as anyone can possibly be, but Venezuela appears to be a resounding victory and one of the most brilliant military operations in American history. As an unapologetic American Chauvinist, I want America to rule over this hemisphere and exert its power for the good of our people. If some shitty little tinpot third world dictator is harming our country or interfering with our national interests, we should do exactly what Trump did to Maduro. Why not? "International law" is fake and gay. The only international law is that big and powerful countries get to do what they want. It has been that way since the dawn of civilization. It will always be that way. And we are the most powerful country on the planet. It's about time that we start acting like it.

@ericweinstein No system of law can be of any effect if it lacks the power of enforcement. How do you enforce international law? There is no international government with the legal authority to do so.

In the Constitution, the Founders vested war making power in Congress, not the Executive branch.

@NickJFreitas You could argue the operation constituted an act of war; however, considering the sole purpose of the mission was to apprehend a despot, rather than to conquer a foreign state/people, you would be hard pressed to do so, in my opinion.

@NickJFreitas I know nothing about federal laws governing military engagements, but the Constitution delegates the power to declare war to Congress. As far as I can tell, Trump didn't; he engaged in a limited military operation to arrest a criminal fugitive.

I am concerned about what happens next in Venezuela, but I want to make one thing very clear… To the socialist leftists…I don’t care what your concerns are. You're only pissed because a socialist dictator was taken out. And that was my favorite part. We are not the same.
