Retired Met DS/ex-RAF now living in Leeds. Slightly left leaning patriotic monarchist who respects all views apart from those of hate. Massive Watford FC fan

@samsparkes999 @obbsie @metpoliceuk My last meaningful day of service before retiring was sorting out the family visits to see their loved ones. I had the sad privilege of driving PC Palmer family to the morgue. Very proud of my FLO team and all those involved for what they did following that terrible day.

@BaitVic We are a far better team with Mendy. His presence allows Louza to be more attacking as opposed to having to worry about defensive shortcomings and doing it himself. Mendy allows him to step up more which is why we are creating more chances. How Javi didn’t see this is beyond me

Another thing that stood out is how good Mendy is at mopping up. Head is always on the swivel defensively, looking for danger. We suffered so much in last couple of years from midfielders with no defensive awareness in deeper roles. Nuts that Gracia overlooked him. #watfordfc

Couldn't watch game live so caught up last night. Thought we pressed really intelligently making Derby look poor. Always when the ball went to a player without many options, meaning they had to go back or kick it long. Kind of thing teams have been doing to us! #watfordfc

I think for this sad matter, and pretty much every other thing Police related, @grahamwettone is the one who consistently delivers the truth about process and Policing. Balanced and utterly correct, if he is not your go to guy for all things Police, you’re at a disadvantage

Really sad news. The self destructive Ziggy was the main instigator in the fall of the roguish Sabotka family. Best season of The Wire and the best non-Police character in Frank Sabotka, a father/leader trying to do right but in the end doing wrong and paying the price. RIP James

@WYPDogs In the 90ies in L’ster Sq in the early hours a nightclub event kicked off and 100’s were intent on trouble. Really scary, my car tyre got slashed and then 1 handler and his beautiful German Shepherd on a long lead turned up. Square cleared in minutes. Poor decision to cut them

@samsparkes999 You would have loved him Sam. Great man, good cop and always smiling. Last time I saw him was when I put a post on FB about a dodgy pub I was in on his ground. He turned up outside in full uniform waving at me like a loony, forcing me to leave that pub. He got me good 😂😢😢

Today thinking about Sergeant Matt Ratana. Murdered on duty in the early hours of the morning five years ago. No one should go to work, never to make it home 💙 Thought with friends, family & colleagues 🚔 #RIP

@trojan1963 Spot on…. I go to a lot of concerts and this one is way up there. Don’t care if I’m not cool, unashamedly seen them 5 times now, the 1st time at The Brixton Academy so they’ve come on a tadge since then. Think Chris Martin is the best front man I’ve seen since Freddy Mercury.

Loved Roy Kent so watched Shrinking which was hysterically bittersweet and now this. It looks ace! I now just watch stuff cos @brettgoldstein is in it or wrote it or mildy involved thus making is superb

@liamtuffs1 As someone involved with DVI since The Tsunami, this is a much needed facility and in keeping with being one of the world’s best responders to mass casualty events. I don’t know the politics behind it, but from my pov, its a good step and not as sinister as some may say

This requires a detailed explanation! Government doesn’t obtain a morgue of this magnitude, unless it’s preparing for a mass death event… What are we anticipating here?

@grahamwettone Had a jury at S’brook find my man guilty of PWITS but not guilty of possession of the firearm 3 inches away in the same draw as the coke. Go figure. It was then that I realized that ‘the charge’ is the win, anything a jury gives you is a bonus. Still think its the best system tho

Many finding out 'justice' doesnt always mean getting what you want & believe. As an aside - this isn't 'two - tier' anything - a jury decided verdict having heard all the evidence - PM & govt & Police have no input into jury decision. Not the first surprise from a court.

@samsparkes999 @SarahForRuncorn I thought of you and many others when I saw the comments from people who should know better. If that is their opinion of women in policing they are not leaders. Shameful that they went for headlines rather than finding out the truth. Id work with and for you, any day of the week

Cops have strange relationships with where they work. You’ll say a street name to them and they’ll know it because of an incident they’ve been to. It’s like instant trauma recall. An incredibly unhealthy but helpful ability to remember places due to trauma. 🤷🏼‍♂️ #ThinBlueLine 🚨

@LucyGoBag Great subject. IMO it should be mandatory for journalists (and others) to have training around interacting professionally with traumatised people, especially through bereavement. No story is worth damaging people further and journalists need a little direction to help everyone

A journalist in the US asked me yesterday “are we wrong to ask questions so soon”… and he got a long, emotional answer about how grateful I will always be for early questions, alternative views, refusal to swallow an official narrative and great, brave investigative journalism

During a visit to Texas, the president was asked a question about emergency alerts “Only a bad person would ask a question like that,” Mr. Trump replied If it works, this approach will cause a seismic shift in the profession of emergency management nytimes.com/2025/07/14/us/…
