ALS has gradually taken away Kenneth’s ability to speak. Through Neuralink’s VOICE clinical trial, he’s exploring how a brain-computer interface designed to translate thought to speech could help restore autonomy in his daily life. Watch to learn more:

Immense planning and technical precision was required for this absolutely preposterous (but real) view: I captured my friend @BlackGryph0n transiting the sun during a skydive. This might be the first photo of it's kind in existence. See a video of this moment in the reply 👇

I've joined Meta Reality Labs to work on the future of input technology. Working with this team for the last couple months has been like unveiling the curtains to the future. Extremely proud!

Ten years ago I visited the Google office and made my dad a promise. I promised him that one day, I would recreate this picture he took of me, but this time I would do it on my first day of work as a Google employee. It was a promise I took seriously. I did everything I could to land that job. I spent hours crafting my resume, I joined every student club and I studied as hard as I could. After a couple years, I was able to land an interview. Unfortunately, I failed it miserably. A few months later, I got another one. This time, I failed it even worse. Luckily, by the time I got my third interview I had started to learn the game. I knew what I needed to study and I studied it for weeks. When the interview started, I was flying. I knew that I would get the job. At the end of the interview, the recruiter emailed me to say I had passed. I called my dad to tell him the good news but I told him there was still one hurdle left. I had passed the interview, but now I would go into a pool of candidates and would have to wait until a team at Google would pick me. I waited for days. Then for a couple weeks. By the time it got to a few months, I knew it was over. Literally no team at Google wanted to hire me. I was devastated. “Why me?” I told myself. I was spiraling and started seeing myself as a victim. I felt I was doing all the right things and nothing was going my way. One day, I went to the mirror and told myself that enough was enough. I was letting failure define me and I knew that was a losing game. Instead of waiting for Google to accept to me, I told myself that I needed to get so good that no one could refuse me. I went all in. At one point, I got so crazy that I started going to hackathon literally every single weekend. Slowly, I built up my experience. When I graduated, I started at Microsoft, then I got a job at Apple One day, many years later, I had a Google recruiter reach out I was still so upset that I didn’t even reply. Then, a few weeks later, another recruiter reached out. A month after that, another one. By then, I had built my skills and I had learned up close that big tech wasn’t for me. And so, even though I had promised my dad a picture, I felt I had outgrown the opportunity that I felt once defined my self worth. Looking back, I’m grateful that I never got those internships. It forced me to go all in and gave me a life with so many twists and turns that I wouldn’t have had without those failures. You may feel like you’re failing in the moment, but it’s in those inflection points where you realize what your true character really is. If you feel like you’re failing now, just keep going. The only day you’ll have truly failed is the day you stop playing the game.
