We are glad to be hosting the 3rd edition of the #WorldPhageWeek2022 webinar series on the 28 & 29th Oct!🥳🥳
We commemorate this week with discussions from excellent speakers in the #phage community.
Be sure you're registered to attend: bit.ly/IBRT-WPW2022@phagedirectory
In this @NatureMicrobiol paper, Christopher Vassallo etal used an experimental selection scheme agnostic to genomic context to identify #phage defence systems in 71 E.coli strains. They found 21 conserved systems, none of which were previously detected buff.ly/3CnjYyj
How does phage virulence impact evolutionary dynamics of host resistance evolution? new paper out with @BrockhurstLab@O_LiviaRoth@micsieber and many more

New work from our group out in @JEvBio led by Dr. Kaitlyn Kortright! We used deep sampling of experimentally evolving communities of P aeruginosa and phage to find evidence for both arms race and fluctuating selection dynamics

How cool is that, a prophage, upon insertion in the pneumococcal genome, modifies a small RNA to make it a better repressor of competence thereby reducing the chance that this phage gets kicked out via transformation 🤯

Happy #InternationalMicroorganismDay! Today is dedicated to celebrating the diversity and importance of microbes in human and planetary health. But what even counts as a microbe? Defining the term is more challenging than you might expect. asm.social/N6
How did life evolve to synthesize Fe-S clusters? Our last paper is out! Thanks a lot to my supervisors @SGribaldo and @FredBarras and to our collaborators! Thread follows.1/11
