@pearson This is really not cool. I need to access exam content to do my job, regularly and reliably, without having my phone on my desk. The 'On a mobile device?' link does absolutely nothing. Is there an alternative? I don't even want work to rely on linking to my phone.

#researchfornewEnglishteachers A lot of research shared on this platform does not relate specifically to the teaching of English. So, over the next 10 days, I'll be sharing 10 research articles that have shaped my thinking and practice over the past 10 years. Up first... 1/7

My department was interested in what older physics exam papers were like - check out this O level physics paper from 1959. Very different!

@IanYorston @TeacherTapp There's nothing wrong with getting up early. I like to be able to get ready slowly and then I have a 40 minute commute. Then I'd rather get there and be chilling with a coffee rather than stuck in a jam on the A14 at 7.30. If I wake at 5.30 I can enjoy peace in the morning.

I’m surprised that more #Teachers aren’t getting up at 07:15 Anything before 07:00 strikes me as unhelpful early. Anything before 06:00 strikes me as positively unhealthy. And yet that’s what the data shows I’m clearly an outlier. Or, more precisely, an inlier. // @TeacherTapp

@DrDavidBoyce I would have thought it'd be attributed to the first vector arrows, force or any other quantity.

Physicists - help me out. Who drew the first example of a free body diagram? I know Newton was the first to realise that you can add forces to forces top to tail, but I have yet to find the first free body diagram in this format.

Science HoDs: How do you structure your leadership teams? Via Key Stages mainly (eg 3,4,5) Or Via subjects (eg Bio, Chem, Phys) Please choose the best fit depending on the size of your team. Use professional judgement. Feel free to comment below if you do something different

Grade boundaries looking somewhat disproportionate across the sciences. I mean physics is just silly.

@mrbakerphysics @NewboldRj @DrGChemistry1 @PaulCaden1 Such a student (the 55% scoring A grader) probably feels like they can only actually do about half of what they're 'supposed' to be able to do. (Because, most people imagine, if its on the exam, its something you've been studying and are supposed to be able to do)

@ChatPhysics I don't put much water in when I boil eggs; they cook just fine in the steam. Sucks when I lose the saucepan lid though. #ChatPhysics

@adamboxer1 Totally non-human method assessing knowledge. We stopped the 'guess what's in the teacher's head' maybe we need to stop having to guess what's on the mark scheme. I'd feel a helpless failure losing 50% of marks for not managing 3 words that are basically implied.

Damn command words. I hate them. They are perversions of real language, and prevent us from really assessing student knowledge. If you want an overall judgement, say "provide an overall judgement" ffs

Have I mentioned that I really dislike our current KS4 assessment regime? Been doing some reading and research for a new booklet on Chemical Cells. Here are some things that have annoyed me today:

@DJGteaching @jaylobinalal Is the question here how the teacher divides their attention or how the topics are split? We teach across B C & P at KS3 but the topics are specifically B C or P. Whereas in a previous school topics were just 'science' and merged BCP 🤢

@DJGteaching @joel120193 @jaylobinalal Probably more an individual comparison between your own teaching groups; if one teacher sees most groups 1 /wk then it probably will feel different for them compared to those who teach 7 groups >once /wk and just the 1 group once.

@joel120193 @jaylobinalal The relationships one is interesting. I've heard this claim so often but I know of RS teachers who strike up fantastic working relationships with students despite seeing them once per week. I wonder how much confirmation bias there is in this belief?

@louisecass If you want to direct your own learning I'd just pick up the course textbooks and resources, then supplement and extend learning using courses from like EdX and Khan Academy, if you like tuition videos.

@DomWD1 @Dr_MM_2021 @Hookean1 @emc2andallthat That is a good point. I'm not teaching AQA right now so definitely wise to consider combined vs triple, and whether you want them in the same place or different. Sometimes we use triples into a slightly different order to help reduce equipment clashes.

@MissB0107 @Dr_MM_2021 @Hookean1 @emc2andallthat good points here id go motion, stretching then moments just because moments is the triple higher content leave it till last i thinn thats because been teaching alongside combined science as workload wise would make sense.

Hi everyone KS4 physics AQA I’m starting Forces with them and I need to finish P8-P11, how would people try sequencing it or have done it in the best would they go about introducing Newtons law of motion, then type of forces, then momentum and moments or another order that worked
