Having fun with our buddies from P2/1. We tested our marble runs to see which ones worked best. It was lovely for our buddies to visit our classroom. @MissSmith_KPS @Kinneil_PS

We had a lovely visit from Mark the paramedic this week! He showed us some of his special equipment and how to stay safe/phone 999. We also got a special surprise, as an ambulance was waiting in the playground! We got to go inside and have a look.🚑 @Kinneil_PS @MissMackayKPS

Health week was so much fun! We had lots of fun sport experiences, made healthy smoothies and more! 💪🏼 🍇

We enjoyed a lovely trip to Edinburgh zoo today! We loved seeing the penguins, chimps, tiger and lots more! A huge thank you to our lovely parent helpers for coming along! 🐅🦍🐧 @Kinneil_PS

Bonjour from P2/1! 🇫🇷 P2/1 were learning all about France today. We explored the Eiffel Tower, creating our own Eiffel Tower models and paintings using pointillism. We also learned some French and spoke about French foods! 🧑‍🍳

Today we explored…. Egypt! 🇪🇬 We learned all about iconic parts of Egypt such as the River Nile and the pyramids. We learned some basic Arabic and created our own pyramids and Pharaoh collars!

P2/1 have shown an interest in our world! This week, we are learning about a different country everyday. Today we learned about Brazil. We spoke about the carnival, how to speak some Portuguese, what the weather is like and what animals are found in the Amazon rainforest! 🇧🇷

We have been exploring colour mixing! 🎨 As we are interested in castles, we created coats of arms and learned about their purpose during the middle ages. We used colour charts and primary colours to make our favourite shades. We then designed our patterns using ‘SketchSchool’!

P2/1 loved having ‘DEAR’ (drop everything and read time) last week during literacy week. We also completed a scavenger hunt, took part in the whole school story, adopted new books and completed a book quiz with our buddies! 🤩

On Shrove Tuesday, we discussed the origins of Pancake Day and created our own pancake making instructions. We made sure to include ‘first’, ‘next’, ‘then’ and ‘finally’ and a detailed picture! 🥞

P2/1 had a great time during literacy week and loved being able to adopt a book on World Book Day!

♻️ 📚 Adopt a Book 📚 ♻️ On Thursday pupils will have the chance to take home a ‘new’ book. We are looking for donations of 1 or 2 books from home that you think someone else in your class would enjoy. Please bring in any books by Wednesday. @Kinneil_PS

We have been focusing on equal groups this week to support our understanding of multiplication. Today we drew different numbers of ‘plates’ on our boards and created equal plates of ‘sweets’ using counting cubes! We then counted the cubes and created multiplication sentences! 🤩

Our P7 buddies came down to help us learn about our rights. We created a heart, full of examples of respect and dignity that we have shown or been shown by others. P7 helped us write our own examples and added some too! @OurRightsKPS @MrsCassidyKPS

Our new interest is … castles! 🏰 We’ve been learning about features of a castle and thinking outside the box during play. I was impressed when B said we couldn’t use a monster truck to defend our castle because they didn’t exist, transforming it in to a horse and carriage! 🐴

Thanks to our lovely reading buddies in @MissMiller_KPS for coming down this afternoon. Following on from last week’s amazing ‘Blooms Taxonomy’ based questions, the children played ‘find the word’ and used tally marks to find the most common word with their partner. @Kinneil_PS

P2/1 have been really busy during numeracy this week. P2 have been focusing on the ten times table, whilst P1 have been exploring halves and quarters. P1 created their own fraction robots, choosing whether each body part was a whole, a half or a quarter!

Thank you to our lovely buddies in P7C for coming down to see us today! They helped us practise our sounds and made lanterns with us for Chinese New Year. We’re already looking forward to next week! @MrsCassidyKPS @Kinneil_PS

We had a tasting afternoon yesterday! We sampled haggis, neeps and tatties and some Irn Bru! After the tasting, we rated everything we’d had and spoke about different descriptive words that we could use.

During our learner conversation, J told us he was going to see the Loch Ness monster. We were keen to learn more about where Nessie lives and her favourite things to eat. My favourite suggestion was three bags of potatoes! Below are some of our amazing creations!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🤩@Kinneil_PS
