To a point someone (I think @besttrousers) made earlier today, a lot of political disagreements really do boil down to a misunderstanding of fact. I think a lot of M4A people think if you passed the policy, literally no one would get denied claims or services.

There is a red button and a blue button, neither of them do anything, you have to press one, which do you press?

@Jayseki To actually answer you I would probably refuse to be party to killing someone else/would not want to live in red button world and would vote blue up to some absurd number like 90+%.

@MistakeCanadian i mean it's the same question, really, just depends how you phrase it. something like: "if you are red, how *low* would the threshold have to get for you to switch to blue; if you are blue, how *high* would the threshold have to get for you to switch to red?"

@Jayseki I think it's a different question because red is always the safe option. Blue never becomes the perfectly safe option aside from at 0% on your model.

@trades_en @dyingscribe Morally obligated, no, but do we not prefer and idolize the blue button pusher that does so because they're running into the proverbial burning building, diving into the water to save a drowning child, etc? Would Jesus of Nazareth push the red or blue button?

@dyingscribe Try distilling it down to the moral precedent instead of extrapolating beyond the scope of the question. Is the individual morally obligated to endanger themselves to shield their peers from the consequences of their own choices?

I want you to map out the consequences past the first order. Think about it deeply. First, think about the people who survive. Then, think about the societal effects of the choices and the death then, think about the downstream effects of that first-order thinking is: press red, live. I am asking people to go past that
Lovhes@genius_eu

@dyingscribe How would red button pushed be a "selfish, individualistic, and insufferable"? I'm asking because you're usually objective enough. Nowhere does in the premise hints whatsoever that the red button pusher are forbidden from making more people pick the "YOU'LL BE FINE 100%" button

@UNISOLDIERMUA I always assumed when he died he had a refractory period before coming back, perhaps relating to the brutality of his death previously.

THE LORD said, "the outcry is so great, and the sin so grevious. all blue must perish." avraham said "if there are >=50% blue votes will u spare blue" god said "yes for 50" "what about 45" "ok fine 45" "how about 10" "for 10 i will not destroy them"

Imagine a circle, with a little spinner on it that you can flick. The circle is 80% red and 20% yellow, like a yellow pie slice. You flick the spinner. It spins, and slowwwly stops. Where did it land?

@eternallydxmned I always assumed a urinal was cheaper than a toilet and thus it was a cost saving measure rather than urinals being in some way preferable. I've never wanted a urinal in my own home.

actress so good that vince gilligan literally wrote the role for her after working with her on bcs. she signed on without reading a script and has since won a critics choice and golden globe (+ more). she’s also the frontrunner for this year’s emmy, and pluribus has become apple tv’s most streamed show. so yeah… rhea seehorn… that’s what you call perfect casting
