@kyler416 @RedbirdFarmhand So wait… Doyle isn’t a bust???? I was just told he was
English

Not only challenged, but also with what they believe is a real chance to succeed.
With Doyle, last night’s start goes that way at Peoria, too. His stuff has gotten better, but now it’s about command. Getting to the corners. Like I’ve mentioned since the offseason, the stats and results on a score sheet don’t matter at all. It’s a tough thing for people to swallow and understand, and rightfully so
English

@kyler416 has mentioned this on a few podcast, but the new Cardinals development group is really placing prospects at levels where they believe they will be challenged. Look no further than Doyle, Jalin Flores, Ryan Mitchell, and Deniel Ortiz’s placement to start the season.
What this can lead to is some early development that doesn’t look as smooth or good on the stat sheets, but I believe the adjustments made at a challenging level tells you more about a prospect than blowing through levels they are clearly better than. So look for how these guys make adjustments here as the early part of the season goes on.

@PepStanciel @DataMizzou He better start drinking some weight gainer shakes!
English

@FoolishBB People have been trying to temper the outcomes so far, but the decision based improvements are so awesome for him. Baby steps to keep unlocking his true potential.
English

@allicnac @FoolishBB Yeah look at all those successful big leaguers on that list. Your point is well received
English

Something is happening here. Walker looks like a completely different ballplayer. Also he’s somehow still just 23 years old.

459 FEET! Jordan Walker's grand slam was absolutely CRUSHED!
English

@allicnac @FoolishBB The koperniak hill is quite the hill to die on lol
English

@FoolishBB Nothing is happening here
Although, my bias is in play here as I have a hard time taking the Cardinals seriously after they didn't bring up Matt Koperniak in 2024

140 million for 9 years... to a kid who hasn't even taken one MLB at-bat yet.
This isn't "going all-in on the future."
This is baseball's hype machine gone completely off the rails — turning teenagers into millionaires before they've proven they can handle the lights, the pressure, or the grind of a full big-league season.
Konnor Griffin looks electric. The tools are insane. But we've seen too many can't-miss prospects flame out, get injured, or simply struggle to adjust. One bad year, one major injury, and that contract becomes an anchor dragging the Pirates (and the kid's confidence) down for nearly a decade.
Meanwhile, proven stars like Paul Skenes still fight for fair extensions. The system rewards raw upside and agent negotiations more than actual performance.
Huge gamble. Massive risk.
Hope Griffin becomes a superstar and makes the Pirates look genius.
But deep down, this feels like another example of modern MLB eating its future for clicks and headlines today.
Baseball is better when dreams are earned on the field, not signed away in an office.
What a wild sport we love. ⚾️

@JoeDoyleMiLB Thought STL was supposed to be top 2 or 3 with the SEA/TB trade
English

On Wednesday, Major League Baseball informed all 30 clubs what their bonus pools for the 2026 Draft would be.
The Pirates have the largest total bonus pool, and the White Sox will have a record slot bonus with the No. 1 pick.

@ByRobertMurray @MLBMarathon No wonder he wasn’t in the Donovan talks
English

@paytonisnotroll @uncledanny24 Haha that’s who I was thinking and I appreciate you asking this way
English

You would not believe which Mizzou player this was, and for once I’m not being sarcastic. You would be shocked.

College GMs checking in with a player’s former staff after signing him for $500k based on synergy clips:
English

@MizCardsSTL He's just wearing his spring number and I'm just being goofy
English

@raybozarth @paytonisnotroll Said he wanted to follow Doug smith. Said we were in his top 4 I believe
English

@money_cruncher My company is a dollar for dollar 10% match. So would you count that as 20% of salary? So ahead of that benchmark
English

@_nateschwartz Nate, this pains me so much. Hate the up and down fiasco we did with him. Feel so bad for the kid.

Jordan Walker's decision value vs. fastballs might be the worst I've ever seen (and wasn't this bad in '23)
I think the Cardinals misdirected him by trying fix a weakness rather than capitalize on a strength. And this might be irreperably broken
mini-thread on my thoughts🧵

Nate Schwartz@_nateschwartz
Which pitch type do you think Jordan Walker makes worse decisions against: Fastballs or breaking balls? #STLCards
English

@JJMcGLAZER @SeifertESPN @SportsCenter Geno fits what KOC likes to do in pushing the ball down the field. He’s got arm talent and deep accuracy. But he’s an absolute statue and cannot extend plays. Darnold lite.
English

@SeifertESPN @SportsCenter The fact they consider Geno in the same tier as Kyler is very concerning and the part at the end gives me little confidence they do the right thing.
English

What I know about the Kyler Murray, Aaron Rodgers, J.J. McCarthy and the Vikings' QB situation. From today on @SportsCenter...
English

@ScrawnySlugger Just started following you and haven’t played since 24. Is this the new game or 25?
English

Update: Both players ended up being generational, but I had to go with Boone Biggs with the 1st pick because of 1) his hall of fame level name and 2) Because 3rd base is a bigger need
So that gives us 4 "generational" talents in our first 3 drafts... Certainly a problem

Scrawny Slugger@ScrawnySlugger
Let's play a game: Which of these players (if any) are generational talents? 🤔
English

@ScrawnySlugger This quality of life improvement is worth the $60

@MattJHarris85 @DataMizzou I’m no analyst but always felt like Yaya would be able to hold his own eventually. The physicality was there from day one.
English

@DataMizzou, one of these names is familiar.

Here are the top "glue guys" in the country, according to ratings at EvanMiya. These are players who have a much bigger impact on their team's performance than their individual stats would indicate. Sam Hoiberg and two Zags lead the group 👇
