Not only challenged, but also with what they believe is a real chance to succeed. With Doyle, last night’s start goes that way at Peoria, too. His stuff has gotten better, but now it’s about command. Getting to the corners. Like I’ve mentioned since the offseason, the stats and results on a score sheet don’t matter at all. It’s a tough thing for people to swallow and understand, and rightfully so

@kyler416 has mentioned this on a few podcast, but the new Cardinals development group is really placing prospects at levels where they believe they will be challenged. Look no further than Doyle, Jalin Flores, Ryan Mitchell, and Deniel Ortiz’s placement to start the season. What this can lead to is some early development that doesn’t look as smooth or good on the stat sheets, but I believe the adjustments made at a challenging level tells you more about a prospect than blowing through levels they are clearly better than. So look for how these guys make adjustments here as the early part of the season goes on.

Mizzou has a highly skilled point guard that redshirted this year, also the fastest guard in the conference! Along with a lottery pick coming in plus the portal is open.

140 million for 9 years... to a kid who hasn't even taken one MLB at-bat yet. This isn't "going all-in on the future." This is baseball's hype machine gone completely off the rails — turning teenagers into millionaires before they've proven they can handle the lights, the pressure, or the grind of a full big-league season. Konnor Griffin looks electric. The tools are insane. But we've seen too many can't-miss prospects flame out, get injured, or simply struggle to adjust. One bad year, one major injury, and that contract becomes an anchor dragging the Pirates (and the kid's confidence) down for nearly a decade. Meanwhile, proven stars like Paul Skenes still fight for fair extensions. The system rewards raw upside and agent negotiations more than actual performance. Huge gamble. Massive risk. Hope Griffin becomes a superstar and makes the Pirates look genius. But deep down, this feels like another example of modern MLB eating its future for clicks and headlines today. Baseball is better when dreams are earned on the field, not signed away in an office. What a wild sport we love. ⚾️

On Wednesday, Major League Baseball informed all 30 clubs what their bonus pools for the 2026 Draft would be. The Pirates have the largest total bonus pool, and the White Sox will have a record slot bonus with the No. 1 pick. 👇FREE READ👇 overslotbaseball.com/articles/mlb-d…

BREAKING: Colt Emerson and the Seattle Mariners are in agreement on an eight-year, $95 million contract extension, sources say. The deal includes a ninth-year club option, a full no-trade clause and escalators that can bring it north of $130 million. Emerson is represented by ACES.

Hearing Jalen Rose openly talk about his Mizzou recruitment was an out of body experience. That was nuts. Had always heard of it but never thought he’d just bring it up like that.

If you want to retire at 65, you have to save at least 15% of your salary (including 401k match) starting at 25. Use that money to: 1. Get full employer's 401k match 2. ESPP (if applicable) 3. HSA (if eligible) 4. Roth IRA 5. Finish maxing 401k Don't wait. Start.

@JJMcGLAZER @SeifertESPN @SportsCenter Geno fits what KOC likes to do in pushing the ball down the field. He’s got arm talent and deep accuracy. But he’s an absolute statue and cannot extend plays. Darnold lite.

I said earlier in the year non of Gates recruits have done much. I have to retract TO Barrett from the list. Pierce might, but not there yet. I’m not sure where Barrett fits next year, bc he is a starter in the SEC, but can’t be a 2.

A lot of words to talk around saying what could be said with one word
Seth Davis@SethDavisHoops

Some quick thoughts about Darryn Peterson. Some of this is semantics, but words are important! First of all, I don't think this has anything to do with the NBA Draft. If anything, his taking himself out of so many games is what would hurt his stock. He's not saving his body or "shutting it down" to protect himself for the draft. If that were the case, there would be no reason to go to a place like Kansas in the first place. Short of his leg being amputated, he's going to be a top-three pick, and probably still No. 1 overall. Second, this is not "load management." I know it's semantics, but that is a premeditated, predetermined decision. If he were on a minutes restriction, you wouldn't sit him for the second half. This term is being misapplied. Please cease and desist. What's really going on? It's hard to tell. Perhaps this really is what it appears to be, that he has a tender hamstring (still) and issues with cramping (still, and mysteriously so), and he and his team (whoever that is) know that by pushing through soft tissue injuries, you risk hurting yourself worse and being out for a long period of time. In that sense, it's prudent to be careful given that it's the middle of February. If he does this in a Sweet Sixteen game, that's a very different matzoh ball. Given this pattern, coupled with his decision not to try to play against Arizona despite feeling ill, it's fair to say this is a "bad look" and a major distraction for a team that has Final Four potential. If anyone were asking for my advice (which they're not), I would recommend that Kansas should put Peterson more in front of the cameras and let him explain that he really and truly does want to be playing, and be more transparent about how these decisions are being made in the moment. And most importantly, who is advising him? Bill Self is doing his best to explain and, when necessary, defend his player, but too often he seems as confused about what's going on as the rest of us.
