Don’t ever let anyone in public health tell you there was no way to know Long COVID would come. People with pre-COVID ME predicted this from the earliest days of the pandemic. But it was business as usual ignoring the existed of PAIS as medicine/govt had done for decades prior.

It is psychologically easier for society to believe children suddenly damaged themselves with iPads than to confront the possibility that adults collectively failed to protect developing brains during an ongoing airborne pandemic This is all about shifting blame & responsibility

Nah. I was 30 when lockdown happened. But COVID/LC is what actually ruined my life.

People keep saying “did we learn nothing from Covid?” and what the ruling class learned is that the masses will happily engage in the politics of disposability when it comes to public health so here we are. Enjoy.

It’s becoming clear that mentally yall could not withstand one week in the life of a long covid patient and this is why 1) you’re ignoring us 2) half of you refuse to believe we exist and 3) zero meaningful progress getting left orgs to advocate for anti covid measures

Why did nobody warn you? I can tell you. Late March 2020, I was part of the COVID taskforce of the German Interior Ministry. In our first report from 27 March, we were probably the first in Western countries to warn about long-term sequelae from COVID, based on experience with SARS (2003) and data about COVID from China. We also argued against herd immunity strategy. A few days later, the German government abandoned herd immunity. But we, and I personally, were violently attacked by influential German right-wing media, followed by major mainstream media, including moderate left-wing. A massive defamatory media campaign. My university threatened to fire me (they actually did a few months ago). That's how mainstream media and the academic community silenced those who knew and warned.

I commend this guy for standing up and doing something. A courageous act of protest, no doubt motivated by desperation, frustration and exasperation at the frankly intolerable state of Long Covid research and trials.

As someone without long covid i think it is so fucking unfair the bulk of awareness raising surrounding covid has fallen to people with long covid. They're already fucking sick and dying and they're trying to save your miserable selves at the same time. It's not right

Two years ago I started a master’s in AI/ML to help cure long COVID. In two weeks I graduate. One of the hardest things I’ve done, and still nothing compared to long COVID itself. Rapamycin and GLP-1 keep bringing me back. But mostly, I did it for my kids and you all.

The small blood vessels, not the large ones your cardiologist monitors, are the problem in Long COVID vascular disease. And every standard cardiac test is designed to miss them.

Really wish major news orgs. would realize the idea that the pandemic is over did not come from the WHO, but from politicians tired of dealing with the short-term economic impacts of a novel virus - a decision that, unironically, is likely to result in long-term economic losses.

I was 21 when I developed Long COVID. I’d just finished my aerospace engineering degree, ready to build technology that drives economic growth. I never got to start. I’ve been housebound for 5 years. I am one of millions.
