@joellikesthis We definitely tried to add physicality with attempted signing of Rice for example, Reijnders/Nunes are also examples but we've been kinda poor at identifying the right 8 for us

An underrated part of recruitment is predicting what style will evolve. Arsenal went early with physicality and power to try and catch up with City, and they did. City thought they needed to match Arsenal and they dropped their levels. I don’t think that gets talked about enough

Mfuni & Alleyne, on the other hand, would have to go on loan.
Having Guehi + Reis affects any developmental game time they would have otherwise gotten.

@thegingerwig We need Reis because of Donnarumma. Dias is really bad at ball-playing, and we need as much ball-playing as possible from our defenders, if Donnarumma is playing.

Pedri’s current floor and ceiling sit between City’s Silvas. At worst, he offers positional security and industry, covering ground and always an outlet for possession like Bernardo. At best, a half-space magician, blending central command with winger-like bite like David.

trafford has played 13 games and has already statistically prevented more goals than donnarumma who has played 36 matches. doubting trafford’s shot stopping ability is genuinely insane to me.

@MoRocety @CollinsMorgreen He did , we play better with Trafford, I get it Donnaruma is a big name, but he was one of the reason PSG got knocked of UCL every year bar the last one. I don't hate big don, but tbh he is not good apart from shot stopping

The argument for starting James Trafford is about balance
He offers a more complete modern goalkeeper profile strong in build up play, comfortable with the ball at his feet, and able to maintain possession which helps reduce unnecessary turnovers and keeps the team more stable

@CollinsMorgreen I don't like Donnarumma one bit either don't get me wrong but people are overrating Trafford on the ball + underrating Donnarumma on it.

@MoRocety Well what is the essence of making a goalkeeper your first option if his main strength is shot stopping yet he isn’t even elite in that aspect...?
If shot stopping was the priority, we could have gone for someone like in the first place.

@Sxne19iv2 Tbh Trafford doesn't actually have better short passing than Donnarumma, he's not hopeless on set pieces though and is genuinely a comparable shot stopper but ideally we need better
