Alternative equations which performed v well BUT these relied on skinfold thickness and/or BIA predictors which all require equipment, training, costs and time to obtain.

Results: -Performance of existing equations varied considerably in this S.African childhood pop. Our earlier equation (Hudda et al. BMJ 2019), which relies solely on readily available information of weight, height, sex, age and ethnicity, performed v well.

❗NEW PUBLICATION❗ Validation of anthropometric & BIA equations for the prediction of fat mass amongst S.African children. dom-pubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/do… We applied 19 fat mass equations which use anthropometric/BIA-assessed predictors and assessed their performance.
