Durban police identified the body of a woman dumped in a sports field in Inanda as Jessica Merle Leanne Weyers, 23. She was last seen on November 1, 2020 when she told family she was visiting a friend but never returned. Her body was discovered by community members with her throat slit and both hands chopped off. Police believe she was murdered elsewhere and dumped at the Newtown A sports ground. Her mother, Leanne Claassens, described her as a loving, caring person and expressed devastation, noting she had recently lost a son as well.

ACTING NATIONAL COMMISSIONER ORDERS MAXIMUM RESOURCES TO TRACE KILLERS OF MAHIKENG CRIME ACTIVIST @SAPoliceService The Acting National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane, has directed the North West Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Ryno Naidoo, to ensure maximum resources are deployed to hunt down the killers of vocal Mahikeng-born crime activist and traditional healer, Mr Thato Molosankwe. According to North West police, Mr Molosankwe was shot and killed after he was attacked at his home in Lomanyaneng village, Mahikeng, in the early hours of this morning. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Lieutenant General Dimpane has strongly condemned the brutal murder and assured the community that no stone will be left unturned until those responsible are found and brought to book. Mr Molosankwe has been described by local police as a community-minded individual who played an important role in assisting police efforts aimed at fighting crime and corruption as well as strengthening relations between the SAPS and communities. The Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit has taken over investigations into the matter. Police are appealing to anyone with information that may assist investigations to contact the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or provide anonymous tip-offs via the MySAPS App.

China will extend zero-tariff treatment to 53 African diplomatic partners starting May 1, 2026. The first shipment—over 6,000 bottles of South African wine—cleared customs in Changsha, enjoying a tariff reduction of RMB 21,000 (around 52,500 rand). More high-quality South African products are set to reach Chinese consumers, delivering tangible benefits to both sides.

Mahikeng is in mourning after a deadly armed robbery at Totobola Butchery claimed the lives of its owners, Sergio “Search” Gomes and his wife, Marlene “Ma-Totobola” Gomes. Six masked suspects stormed the busy butchery, robbing customers and staff before forcing the couple to their nearby home in an attempt to access a safe. During the ordeal, shots were fired. Marlene Gomes died at the scene, while Sergio Gomes was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. No arrests have been made. SAPS has opened cases of robbery with aggravating circumstances and murder, and is appealing to the public for information. The Gomes family, long-time operators of the well-known business, are being remembered by the community, with customers, staff and residents left shocked and devastated.

Elon, bro Here's a plan. If you're serious about this, that is. Call off these fluffers and paid praise singers. They are wrong, irritating, disrespectful, and they are doing your cause a lot of harm. Get on a plane, and come and sit down with the relevant authorities and decision makers. Here, in SA. Show respect, show us that we want to work with you. Record the meeting(s) if you worry about skullduggery. Bring the facts. Bring your arguments, stats, show us how everyone benefits. Address our security concerns, give us a few simple safety backups. Negotiate this like the businessman you are. You did not build your empire using the whiny victim model currently in play. If there are others pushing this current mess, bring them along. It will make everything easier. Walk back the harm of the last few months. Talk to us about business, and benefits, respectfully, as people that you want to do business with, not people that owe you a favour. There are just far too many big pieces missing in your current presentation. People have noticed, and doubling down on that, and adding anonymous X influencers really just don't do it for us. We are funny that way. That, or pack up your wares and leave. When a salesman gets a "no" he tries harder, or goes knocking on the next door. He doesn't insult and threaten the potential client. It's weird. And rude. One way or the other - decision time.

A lot of misinformation from legacy media about Starlink’s entry into South Africa. Here’s the truth 👇 • ❌ “Starlink wants to bypass B-BBEE” ✅ False — it supports transformation via EEIP, a legal framework already used by companies like Microsoft, IBM, and Amazon Web Services. • ❌ “Starlink is asking for special treatment” ✅ No — it’s asking for equal rules so ALL satellite operators can compete fairly. • ❌ “EEIP is less beneficial than equity deals” ✅ Reality — Starlink’s plan would connect 5,000 rural schools with FREE high-speed internet, impacting millions of students every year. • ❌ “It won’t create local impact” ✅ It will partner with local businesses, create jobs, and boost the economy (broadband growth = GDP growth). • ❌ “It will become a monopoly” ✅ Impossible — Starlink operates globally in a competitive market across 150+ countries. • ❌ “Security & privacy risks” ✅ It will fully comply with South African laws like every other country it operates in. • ❌ “Starlink is already operating illegally” ✅ Wrong — it is NOT operating because it is still waiting for a license.

Being so close to such beautiful animals in their natural habitat, between Kruger Park and Sabi Sands, was something I can barely put into words.
