@monero_max The new release of Cake Wallet allows easy purchase of XMR and had a surge of new downloads recently. This could explain it.
English

@LWhatsHisFace @monero_max Yes, it's a concern. Flooding attack. Has to be sustained though.
English

@monero_max It's that attack where if you control enough of the outputs you can rule out members of the ring signatures and increase your odds of finding the correct one.
That's my guess.
English

@RealHalFinney @monero_max It is a realistic threat to ring signatures. The only answer to this is the major Seraphis upgrade.
One would not hope for such an attack. The only positive is a potential unifying rallying of efforts under adversity.
English

@monero_max I've always wanted to see a state-sponsored actor ( or other) try to overload the monero network with a flood of transactions, just to see how it holds up. It would be an interesting experiment.
English

@MZietzke @monero_max Well, the chart is there in front of your eyes. Any yet unanswered questions?

@QLD_HODL @sethforprivacy Yes, it's a store of utility.
Some might say utility is valuable 😉
English

@sethforprivacy I'm a somewhat less technical user, what's the best way to swap in & out between #Bitcoin and Monero?
I'm interested in Monero's utility, but not necessarily as a store of value.
English

Monero is an immensely powerful tool that more people should try out and use 🙂
It’s extremely symbiotic with Bitcoin and doesn’t require you to give up custody, unlike Liquid and custodial LN.
Pavol Lupták@wilderko
Dear Bitcoin maxis, at a time when fees are at an all-time high, LN servers are closing channels, maybe it's high time to give Monero a try :-)

@Jestopher_BTC If he's sensitive to KYC and wants something optimised for payments, he deserves to know some options...

@MgkMshrmBrkfst @vikrantnyc Some of us are way too lazy to figure out how to use this or that 'dojo' to keep track of dirty coins, which mixers are compromised and which not, how to protect metadata, etc. etc.
English

@brokenbitcoin Privacy is essential to money, because it establishes fungibility. This ensures that you only transmit value, not reputation.
Monero is the better form of digital money because it achieves the difficult task of removing the traceability byproduct of being digital and public.
English

@BasicSwapDEX What's the progress on remote nodes for XMR-BTC atomics?
English

Remember, the open source #BasicSwap protocol allows bidirectional adaptor signature swaps on *every* supported pair!
The most private and decentralized way to avoid chain analysis on $BTC - $LTC swaps, $BTC - $XMR swaps, and many more 🥷

@iusr10 The Monero economy already exists. Small, but growing.
It's not all or nothing. We aren't waiting for 'the promised land', we're already doing it today.
English

@vladcostea @DavidShares They literally did what you are asking for. What else do you want?
English

@DavidShares BCH is an altcoin that had 6 years to prove its worthiness on the free market and failed to get traction.
Not Bitcoin, not any better than Bitcoin.
English

@kayabaNerve @anoneroio @0xTurbamulta @GrapheneOS Appreciate the edits over the first version...
Isn't this a discussion over attack surface? The prior probability of device being seized and inspected is the whole crux of this equation. Less real-world information leak.
English

@MoneroAustralia @anoneroio @0xTurbamulta @GrapheneOS I don't believe in privacy via obscurity, where this a discussion of obscurity.
Would I prefer to take a phone through customs than a Ledger? Sure.
Would I trust that phone to resist the US government more than a proper hardware wallet if seized? No.
English

@kayabaNerve @anoneroio @0xTurbamulta @GrapheneOS The inconspicuousness of a stock mobile phone over a made-for-crypto device counts for a lot.
Only rivalled by a unique custom build from standard hardware - an option inaccessible to nearly everyone.
English

@anoneroio @0xTurbamulta @GrapheneOS I never said it was inherently insecure. I said I wouldn't recommend it over a proper hardware wallet which has a much smaller scope
More than secure enough for most != "certainly better" than any HWW
Also, there attacks on older Pixels (though I'm unsure if you endorse those)

@all_secured @GrapheneOS Send the developers 0.05 XMR securely and anonymously from your new phone, to help continue improving it :)

My Google Pixel 7 has been successfully flashed with @GrapheneOS and I'm testing various features and ways of using this kind of tool. Any suggestions?
