@monero_max The new release of Cake Wallet allows easy purchase of XMR and had a surge of new downloads recently. This could explain it.

The number of Monero transactions is surging, increasing from 25k per day to 50k per day. Does anyone have an explanation for this significant rise?

@LWhatsHisFace @monero_max Yes, it's a concern. Flooding attack. Has to be sustained though.

@monero_max It's that attack where if you control enough of the outputs you can rule out members of the ring signatures and increase your odds of finding the correct one. That's my guess.

@RealHalFinney @monero_max It is a realistic threat to ring signatures. The only answer to this is the major Seraphis upgrade. One would not hope for such an attack. The only positive is a potential unifying rallying of efforts under adversity.

@monero_max I've always wanted to see a state-sponsored actor ( or other) try to overload the monero network with a flood of transactions, just to see how it holds up. It would be an interesting experiment.

Monero is an immensely powerful tool that more people should try out and use 🙂 It’s extremely symbiotic with Bitcoin and doesn’t require you to give up custody, unlike Liquid and custodial LN.

I need a lightning wallet that works reliably, is non-custodial, and is simple to use. Our local rancher wants to receive Bitcoin payments, but he's running out of steam trying all of our best options. The payment system has to WORK. Why do I even have to say this??

Monero is more advanced than Bitcoin, yet way easier to use.

What are you actually buying, when you buy Monero? You are buying credits for the Monero economy. This is the value proposition. Hence, the bigger the economy, the greater that value.

@iusr10 The Monero economy already exists. Small, but growing. It's not all or nothing. We aren't waiting for 'the promised land', we're already doing it today.

@DavidShares BCH is an altcoin that had 6 years to prove its worthiness on the free market and failed to get traction. Not Bitcoin, not any better than Bitcoin.

@MoneroAustralia @anoneroio @0xTurbamulta @GrapheneOS I don't believe in privacy via obscurity, where this a discussion of obscurity. Would I prefer to take a phone through customs than a Ledger? Sure. Would I trust that phone to resist the US government more than a proper hardware wallet if seized? No.

I wish there was a hardware wallet I could actually recommend, instead of just saying it's probably "best". I don't really feel like anyone has made a properly secure device.

I said I wouldn't recommend it over a proper hardware wallet which has a much smaller scope More than secure enough for most != "certainly better" than any HWW Also, there attacks on older Pixels (though I'm unsure if you endorse those)

My Google Pixel 7 has been successfully flashed with @GrapheneOS and I'm testing various features and ways of using this kind of tool. Any suggestions?
