I’d love to know how you mentally separate things like this, which are valid, from other, eerily similar examples of potential (probable) foreign influence, which happen at more pace and scale than anything like this, and are also valid. You never mention them. Never. You’re so spot on, on so much, but that blind spot is really hard to unsee because you’re too smart and plugged in for it to be unintentional.

Insane that @RepLuna is bringing Russians into our Capitol in the middle of an active conflict with Iran. At the same time, Russia is reportedly feeding Iran targeting intelligence to accurately hit Americans, including our troops across the Middle East. Let that sink in. While U.S. forces are in the crosshairs, we are opening the door to the very actors helping enable those strikes. That is not diplomacy, it is a complete failure to grasp the threat.

I’m not blaming rank in file teachers for the line item rules, I’m blaming them for participating in what “school” has become over the last 20+ years, which is, quite famously at this point, a literal running joke.

@MongooseSix @travisakers Actually the school board of private schools makes the rules for the entire school and the district makes rules for the entire public school district. So most teachers don’t “make up whatever rules they want”. Also 98% of schools have a no phone policy or a redacted phone policy.

Text your kid all you want. They’re not going to see it during my class though, because if they’re on their phone, it’s getting confiscated and you can come pick it up from the principal after school. Entitled and enabling parents are as much of the problem as the system itself.

There’s no law that a parent can’t text their child dude. You are a teacher not a dictator. These people are forced to come to school to listen to you teach whatever your state tells you to teach, if you’re in public schools. There’s no law that parents aren’t allowed to communicate with their child or send a text during any certain set hours. Thank God. Scolding parents like you’re the warden of their children is a truly gross look. Find something better to complain about. Parents being in touch with their kids?? No. Schools, teachers, and systems telling parents they don’t have purview over their own children is part of what facilitated MK Ultra, GATE programs and ***Epstein-esque lists***, etc. There are plenty of legit and timely “best interest of children” soap boxes to hop on and you’re sidestepping ALLLLLLLLL of them here.

That profession, the personality types it seeks/draws/rewards, and the larger subversive political activism machine that it serves to fund (often unwittingly like most other unions today), are far afield from what they were in say, the 50s and 60s.

@Insertuserusa @travisakers Sure, I agree. Teachers serve an important role in society, but “authority” is not one of them imo. The thirst of the teachers unions for that title and the downstream benefits of it, politically and in the classrooms, is a big part of how we got here as a society.

Yes, and the approach Travis is championing here is also partly responsible for the 10X explosion in elective homeschooling over the last decade. Look for it to double again over the next one. Charter school boom similarly. But he’d probably tell us that we aren’t qualified to teach our own kids. That general liberal arts curriculum makes all the difference in their minds.
