At least Rs 1000 crore business gets generated in Hyderabad because of this one dish in just 30 days! According to the Hotel’s Association, at least 60 lakh plates of Haleem are likely to be sold this season. Roughly 7000 outlets sell haleem and do you know how many people get employed for just the haleem business? At least a lakh people get employment purely to make and serve haleem! Hyderabadi Haleem is shipped to many cities across the country and also exported to Dubai, US, UK and many central Asian countries too. And nutritional value? One serving of mutton haleem contains roughly 18 to 25 grams of protein, although some estimates place it as high as 48g in larger, richer portions. There are also chicken variants of haleem for non-mutton eaters. The Hyderabadi Haleem also was awarded the GI tag in 2010, the first non-vegetarian dish in India to earn the GI tag. Finally! One word of advice, you want to win the hearts of Hyderabadis - don’t try to come near our Biryani and Haleem! Others - do comment with your top “must try” haleem places of Hyderabad this season.
