In my 31 years in Chile, I’ve had the honor of serving my adopted country in unique ways—amongst them—I was appointed to the board of #jardinbotanico, Chile’s National Botanical Gardens, now 90% destroyed by the Viña del Mar fires. This hurts. Let the healing begin.

Watch this amazing video. The water bottle cap gets lodged in his airway. He can’t breathe. His teacher saved his life. This is why everyone needs to know the Heimlich Maneuver!

@LizWhitlockMD The only scenario where I think the clinical question could be useful is in a pt with MH risk where you don’t want to use Sux… still we have Roc… so I just don’t get it!

JAMA: "So don't RSI with remi instead of sux, k?" ... Y'all, I wasn't going to, for so many reasons. That someone wanted to do the actual trial is... Ok no seriously I would never have thought to use remi. Never. So I get to continue not doing that. 🤷‍♀️ Am I missing something?

@Monteman80 You can draw unknown confounders in a DAG too. But the only way to get rid of them is with a reasonable "identification strategy", meaning a study design that allows you to establish causality

Hi #epitwitter, reviewer (#2) is asking to test whether there are statistically significant differences between exposure groups for several covariates (i.e. include p-values for the differences) in Table 1 in an observational study. Any refs to argue if this is a bad/good idea?

@spenafajuri Got it. DAGs help too, however even in a DAG you will only adjust for known confounding variables. What about unknown confounders? Of course you need these variables to be measured to adjust for them. This is more a question than an argument.

@Monteman80 You should adjust for confounders based on subject knowledge (we have a DAG in the paper). But if you are going anyway to adjust for the covariates in Table 1, p-values create more confusion that help
