Oracle executives are getting DEATH THREATS after that 6 AM email massacre and Larry Ellison just hired Blackwater-level private security 30,000 workers butchered via automated email while Oracle posts $6.13 BILLION in quarterly profits I'm hearing Oracle leadership is now working from "undisclosed locations" because former employees are showing up at headquarters with printed copies of their termination emails Sources saying the Redwood City campus looks like a military compound. Armed guards checking IDs. Parking garage access restricted. Executive floor completely locked down. Oracle spent more on executive protection this quarter than they'll pay in severance to 30,000 families The same company that automates human termination emails can't automate executive safety Larry Ellison's yacht has three security boats following it. Safra Catz hasn't been photographed in public since the bloodbath. Meanwhile former Oracle workers are posting TikToks outside Ellison's $300 million Malibu compound One terminated engineer drove 800 miles from Austin just to stand at the gate with a sign reading "I BUILT YOUR CLOUD INFRASTRUCTURE FOR 12 YEARS" Oracle's AI algorithms can eliminate 30,000 jobs in milliseconds but can't predict when desperate people stop playing by corporate rules If you're still at Oracle, your executives are literally hiding from you behind armed security while counting the money they made from destroying your career The revolution isn't coming through the front door anymore. It's coming through the fucking walls.

Japan, just copy what Steam did for games but for anime. Make a platform neutral to all companies they can distribute on. Instead of mod support, have fansub support to turn former pirate groups into allies. Whoever does this will make ten trillion dollars.

Crunchyroll is unavailable in Japan due to licensing restrictions. This geo-block means Japanese audiences never see the Western-localized versions of anime, where subtitles are often rewritten, content is censored, and dubs are altered without anyone noticing the changes.

Damn once again the tankies were right about the January "protests" and yet the entire soft left which helped to launder what happened as "peaceful demonstrators rising up against a tyrannical government" will refuse to acknowledge what they supported like with Syria, etc
Trey Yingst@TreyYingst

NEW: The United States sent guns to the Iranian protesters through the Kurds, President Trump told Fox News. "We sent guns to the protesters, a lot of them," President Trump told me. "And I think the Kurds took the guns."

why is there actually, legitimately, discourse around reading speed right now “8 hours to read a book is slow” “you should be able to read a book in 3-5 hours” bro we are in a literacy CRISIS, i do not care how fast or slow you read a book, just pick one up and read it

Interesting how wars are named after the country attacked: Vietnam War, Iraq War, Afghanistan War, Iran War... That's because if they were named after the attacker, it would be too confusing, since 80% of conflicts would be called the US war.

I've said that time and time again How is it possible S. D. Perry was able to create two entire books, based off of one game before it even became a franchise yet Hollywood director struggle, just say you wanted to make your own movie slap on Resident Evil because it's popular.

Not true at all. What Postman argued was that we’ve replaced a culture of mass literacy with a culture of the screen, where everything is entertainment and the person who can grab the most attention will rule us. He warned that we would no longer have the capacity for deep reading or sustained reflection. Education and media would lower themselves to the level of the dumbest person. His words are truer now than they were then, and it all started with TV.
Henry Shevlin@dioscuri

When I was a kid, people said television was eroding society and corrupting the youth. Since then we’ve had the same story for videogames, smartphones, social media, and now AI. Not to deny these technologies have all *changed* society, but the apocalypticism never quite pans out

Capitalism’s structural flaw is that once capital reaches a certain scale, it can purchase politics, government, regulations, competitors, and media, creating a self-reinforcing cycle that compounds wealth for the ones on the top. The system that claims to reward merit increasingly rewards incumbency. That’s not a bug that can be patched with regulations, because we see that our entire political system is a cesspool of lobbyists advancing corporate interests by paying the politicians to take positions favorable for them. Furthermore, capitalism’s end result is- the deployment of the nation’s military on its behest. Which is where we are at now. So it’s not about selling $10 tshirts, it’s if you acquire so much wealth, that you ban others from making that shirt, and you can pay the child laborer in Indonesia even less, and if they revolt, you send your military. That has been the logical endpoint of allowing unlimited capital accumulation to operate inside democratic institutions that are, by design, purchasable. Whether it is Chiquita bananas (also known as united fruit company), Dole pineapples, production of rubber by exploitation of Congolese- for ABIR (Anglo-Belgian India Rubber Company, JP MORGAN CHASE- owning 15k slaves as collateral, Tiffany & co- by exploiting slaves picking cotton- it’s all of it.

@Thechat101 What Marc is getting at is capitalism by its very nature is exploitative because the person with capital has to pay the people they employ less then the value of their labor in order to turn a profit and the employees are forced to sell their labor in order to survive.
