Mythos is a new tier, bigger than Opus, and more capable. It will be beyond the current state of the art by a wide margin, a dramatic jump in intelligence. Things have been accelerating under the surface since December. Capabilities are increasing faster, the time between model releases is getting shorter. I think OpenAI's recent decisions and refocus have been driven by the fact that it is increasingly obvious to some people working in the industry that we are beginning to take off. I think there have been multiple unannounced breakthroughs over the last few months, in more than one lab. I think there have been advances in capabilities, in alignment, and in architecture. The loop that started in December has begun to bear fruit. This model will be huge, very expensive to serve, and incredibly powerful. It has already finished training, and is in early rollout to some enterprise partners so they can prepare for what's about to arrive. Once we get benchmarks I think it will become clearer where we are; we are already inside the singularity.

The creator of the ARC benchmark just laid out his exact timeline for AGI, I had also asked franços a few months ago “what arc will we reach AGI” and he had replied 6-7. Glad he’s still sticking to that prediction.
Timeline: François predicts AGI is coming around 2030, which will perfectly align with the release of ARC-6 or ARC-7.

I've returned from my month-long China trip. A big thank you to all the Chinese engineers who spent their time meeting with me. I have learned so much. I intend to return soon to learn more.
My goal was to empty my cup and look at the AI + robotics ecosystem with fresh eyes. I’ve come away extremely impressed. China feels to me like a nation of engineers, contrasting with America being a nation of traders.
Simultaneously, I am concerned that the world is unprepared for what is to come.

Would love to see more acknowledgment that you can't prevent kids from accessing pretty powerful AI.
Maybe you can make it hard for them to access stuff from the top few companies, but how much does that accomplish besides shifting them to slightly older, less safe open models?

I'm a bit worried Anthropic has an org-wide case of AI psychosis that makes them think Claude is good enough that they can ship random product features without breaking things, but in fact they *do* keep breaking things, and they're not online enough to notice people complaining
