@KiberuDenis1 @CKyobutungi @ChefKarim02 @TheUMAofficial @Asadthegeek @DrOribaDan @ACCESS_UG @CelestinoGutirr @agnmu_Ug @Makerere_Medics @Danieobua One of my best times of medical practice was my internship. I worked so hard but I had no worries at all. I was supervised well, given a salary and a home. I don't understand why 26 years later the same government has failed to pay the much deserved salary to intern doctors!

🚨🗣️ Zlatan Ibrahimović on Bruno Fernandes and the PFA award: “Bruno? He doesn’t need a trophy to prove he is the best—he is the team. Week after week he carries Manchester United—goals, assists, leadership, responsibility. If he breaks the assist record, there is no debate—he must win it. Football is about impact, not medals. I’ve played against the best—Kevin De Bruyne, top quality. At Liverpool FC you have Steven Gerrard, Thiago Alcântara—unbelievable players. At Real Madrid, Luka Modrić, Toni Kroos—masters of the game. But Bruno? He gives you everything—he runs, he fights, he creates, he scores. Others control games; Bruno decides them. For me, this season—he deserves all the credit.” {@Sports }

Police in Nateete are holding a 26-year-old man, identified as Abdu Serugo, on allegations of impersonation following a dramatic incident along the Northern Bypass in Busega. According to authorities, the suspect was arrested on the evening of April 21, 2026, after reportedly threatening members of the public while claiming to be a security officer capable of opening fire. Security teams responded to the scene and apprehended Serugo. A search conducted at the time of arrest led to the recovery of a toy pistol, as well as items including footwear resembling military boots and an SFC T-shirt—believed to have been used to bolster his false identity. Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect may be part of a group targeting unsuspecting victims along the busy bypass corridor. Police have since opened cases of impersonation and threatening violence, with investigations ongoing. #ErichMboowaReports

Surgeon Self-Care: Managing the Overwhelm . Our brains are our most vital tools, yet as surgeons, we often forget to nurture our own. We are trained to suppress our emotions to prioritize patient care, frequently sacrificing our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being in the process. The truth? We often endure schedules and stress levels we would never allow our loved ones to face. But remember: Burnout prevention is far better than the cure. To keep serving at your best without losing yourself to the "busyness" of the OR, you must be intentional about life outside of surgery. How to reclaim your balance: 1️⃣ Be Intentional: List your non-negotiable life priorities. Tackle them one by one just as you would a surgical plan. 2️⃣ Leave Room for Rest: When scheduling, build in a "margin for error." Rest isn’t a luxury; it’s a requirement for precision. 3️⃣ Master Delegation: Ask: "What am I doing that someone else can do?" Train your team well so you can delegate with confidence and focus where you are most needed. 4️⃣ Systematize Your Life: Without a clear system for how things should run, your career will swallow your personal life. Build a structure that protects your time. 5️⃣ Seek Support: Don’t wait for a crisis. Ask for help early—whether professional or personal—so you can enjoy the career you love without sacrificing your soul. Your health matters just as much as the lives you save. — Dr. Lois Asiimwe Surgical Oncologist, St. Francis Hospital Nsambya @NsambyaHospital #SurgeonLife #SelfCareForDoctors #BurnoutPrevention #WomenInSurgery #ASOUCONF2026 #UgandaDoctors #NsambyaHospital #WorkLifeBalance

Dear @KCCAUG @Buzeki_Sharifah ,kindly save us the very loud noise from @dstrkt24_kla , this bar has disturbed the peace of health workers in Mulago. The few hours one gets to rest at night is close to impossible. Let them install sound proof, this is not Kabalagala!. It is the only bar in the entire neighbourhood doing this ,kindly save us 🙏 Meanwhile anyone can end up at Mulago, let us keep the peace of health workers. They work so so hard!

If all the doors are closed or are being slammed in your face, remember: The only way you can progress is through learning and work. Work of any kind, however meaningless it seems, prepares you for the next step and your next opportunity. Sometimes we want too much, at once. Look at what is essential, and pursue it. My best moment in life was the day I stopped paying rent. It's not a big thing; many people own their homes, but for me, it was a milestone. I acquired freedom. I drive a 35-year-old car. It's enough for me. It's 1000cc and very cute, and it takes me from A to B. I don't buy fancy clothes from shops in Kampala. I have a fixer for that. A trip to the Saturday market in Entebbe is also fine. Makeup? Why? Fake eyebrows, lashes, nails, hair - why? All that can be done at home, actually. Growing vegetables in the garden is super-rewarding and healthy. Save your plastic bottles for vertical gardening; it works. Eating so-so food in overpriced restaurants? With so many 15-minute recipes online, I'm a master chef. Going out to be seen? That's just unnecessary stress. Meeting people you don't really like, drinking overpriced drinks, watching your handbag and phone like a hawk - that's just stress. Meeting friends at home over a good lunch or dinner, giving everyone attention, that's what works for me. Prado, Pajero, Land Cruiser - you'll still get stuck in traffic. Fuel prices these days will teach everyone a lesson, I hope. Anyway, do what you want. It's your life. Just think of your future sometimes. Where do you want to be in ten years, and what do you want to do? Work on it; nobody will serve it on a silver platter. Be strong, focused, resilient, and hopeful. You will make it.

The future of surgical training is here—and it’s immersive! Dr. Francis Basimbe GI Surgeon, Nsambya Hospital @NsambyaHospital & Lecturer, @umu_nkozi is leading the charge in implementing Virtual Reality (VR) for surgical lectures and preoperative care. The Study: Using 3D cadaveric dissections in a VR environment, 8 residents from UMU/St. Francis Nsambya explored complex surgical approaches to proximal humerus fractures. The Feedback: 📈 72% felt a significant boost in confidence. 📈 87.5% believed the skills learned were directly transferable to the OR. 📈 78% praised the realism of the simulation. 📈 85% recommended VR as a permanent fixture in medical education. The Verdict: VR isn't just a gadget—it’s a high-value, highly acceptable tool for the next generation of surgeons. #SurgicalTech #VirtualReality #MedEd #UgandaHealth #Innovation #FutureSurgeons #ASOUCONF2026 #NsambyaHospital
