What Was the Rebbe's Passover Seder Like? By @MottiWilhelm On the night of the Passover seder — one of the busiest nights of the Jewish year — the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, typically conducted his seder with his family and a select group of guests, and later, alone.  And still, on that very night, the Rebbe made himself present for others. After the evening prayers, when most hurried home to begin their own seder, the Rebbe would regularly visit several public seders throughout Crown Heights over the years, including those of yeshivah students, Russian immigrants and Iranian refugees, giving attention to each detail and to each individual present. @Chabad More: Chabad.org/7309510

The seder night is rich with once-a-year mitzvos, layered customs, and reciting the Haggadah, on which the Rebbe authored a masterful commentary. Across the globe Chabad seders draw hundreds or even thousands. But what did the Rebbe’s own Seder look like? chabad.org/news/article_c…

what's wrong with this?! Is a few dollars worth more than the countless Yidden unintentionally eating chometz when they are trying to eat matza? @ManischewitzCo @OrthodoxUnion

The severity of Chometz on Pesach is not widely understood by all Jewish consumers. In 1944, the Rebbe urged @ManischewitzCo to use its platform to help raise awareness of Pesach’s unique and intricate requirements: "Taking into account the great ignorance which exists in many circles regarding the laws of Pesach, and the great precautions which are necessary in regard to such laws, we are taking the liberty of turning to you with the following request. "At least a minute or two of your worthy radio program should be devoted to impressing upon the Jewish masses the gravity of the laws appertaining to Chometz during Pesach. Appeal to the Jewish housewife in general to maintain a truly kosher Pesach home. "Might we further suggest that a brief resume of the essential Pesach laws be also broadcast. We feel that you will be rendering a most meritorious service to your listeners. "Please inform us, if possible, what steps have been taken in this most important matter."

@Hkurkavan @ManischewitzCo @OrthodoxUnion it wasnt meant as a joke tweet wasnt worded that well. Non KFP matza is *not* labeled this clearly, it only has small text saying 'not for passover. It should be at least as clear as on this picture

Insane what a tweet could do. Another Bob win, with MAJOR assists from @MendelSuper @TorahKnwldgeBwl @Mottel and @ShaisTaub And of course to @islandjew for the picture that went viral, and posting the issue on his status. I would then like to thank the academy and all the people that work hard behind the scenes

It seems @ManischewitzCo was listening, everyone: The brand told me that it will be “evaluating packaging differentiation and working with our retail partners to ensure clearer in-store separation and signage where needed.” jns.org/news/u-s-news/…

@MottiWilhelm @ManischewitzCo @OrthodoxUnion For sure! I wish they wrote "not for passover" across the front of the box To be safe they should write it twice. To be super safe they should write it three times on the front of the box alone. That way it would be impossible for a reasonable person to have a complaint

Since this morning, I have seen endless tweets of people complaining about these matzot. In Israel, I have seen "non-kosher l'Pesach" matzot for years. It is fine, chill.
Rabbi Mordechai Lightstone@Mottel

This is important to know: @ManischewitzCo sells a cracker, with the kosher certification of @OUKosher, that LOOKS like Matzo and SAYS Matzo... But isn't kosher for passover. Look before you buy, or you too might end up purchasing OU certified, Manischewitz brand bread.

@meirdersh @Mottel @benwaxman if they were mass selling non-kosher esrogim in the Sukkos section of national brands and they were being bought by the thousands...yes, some effort there would make sense as well also: not ideal?!

@Mottel @MottiWilhelm @benwaxman No one is disputing that these matzas are not ideal. And your semantic issue is silly. They are known as matza. What’s next, rename all non kosher esrogim as lemons? “They are not esrogim.”

@benwaxman @meirdersh @Mottel R' Ben, Putting aside the discourse on X: Is it so hard to imagine that there are thousands of Yidden across the globe who just go their local grocery and grab matza and matza ball mix for their traditional seder? They don't "want" matza-lite, they just take what there is

@meirdersh @MottiWilhelm @Mottel I can only speculate but I wonder if, given that these have been sold for decades and no matter how they are labeled people buy them, maybe the issue isn't that people are fooled. Maybe the issue is that many Jews want "matza-light", they don't like real matza.

@benwaxman @Mottel @meirdersh long stretch from "it is not certain they are absolute chametz" to "it seems clear they arent chametz" Also, let's say they aren't strictly chametz...they still arent matza that can be used for the mitzvah

@MottiWilhelm @TOMCHEI770 @ManischewitzCo @OrthodoxUnion I just said they could have made the boxes a little different. I haven't checked Streit's or Yehuda, have you? Being mindful about the food we eat involves personal responsibility. That how we move past the mundane into a spiritual act.

@MottiWilhelm @TOMCHEI770 @ManischewitzCo @OrthodoxUnion Look, Manischewitz could have made the boxes a little different to make the distinction clearer. But Jews who avoid treif are already used to reading labels and ingredients especially during pesach when eating KFP matzo is a mitzvah in itself.
