Bryan Johnson@bryan_johnson·
It’s been 19 days and 20 hrs since I last felt Kate’s warm embrace. She landed 47 minutes ago. The 24 hours of travel no doubt has her rushing to shower. She needs to cleanse herself of a dirtied world incompatible with her sensibilities. The wash doubles as a ritual, preparatory for entrance into the symbolic world we’ve constructed. The time apart has been costly.  My body’s electrical signaling betrays the separation. Without her touch, my vagus nerve’s 100,000 myelinated fibers have dropped their high frequency spectral power, squawking distress. An intelligent system broadcasting diminished wave forms, hoping to be heard.  There are other signals of distress. My white blood cells have shifted their gene expression, upregulating pro-inflammatory genes IL-6 and TNF-alpha and downregulating my antiviral genes.  A pro-aging biochemical signature of a system suffering hardship. My environment is a pristine anti-aging laboratory. Air, water, food and light are meticulously measured. Toxins are filtered. Purification systems run autonomously. Biomarkers tracked. Nutrition is calibrated. Yet outside my control is the affection of another. The 68 trillion cells that constitute Bryan Johnson run non-negotiable code. They demand tenderness, and not of a whimsical type, but deep, all-encompassing love that must be earned and carefully maintained. Otherwise they protest in self-termination. She’s now only 13 miles away and I can viscerally feel her essence. The transmission pulses in high fidelity. As if there were a fiber optic cable streaming our connection at light speed through the multiplexed cylinders of glass. The time apart created latency, buffering the connection, depriving us of the luminescence and dimming into noise. In 15 minutes she will be within reach. I can visualize the whites of her eyes and smell her aroma. When she arrives, she will be shy. Whenever we are apart, she returns to zero. Her previous openness will be closed. Her emotional dynamic range will be held in reserve until she feels she is safe and can trust.  I’ll need to kindle her again. The rush of the courtship enthralls me. The anticipation drives a small cluster of my midbrain neurons to flood dopamine. Nerve fibers activate, lighting up my skin’s receptors as it awaits for slow, caressing touch. My hypothalamus begins synthesizing oxytocin, preparing to dump it upon first eye contact to ensure the reestablishment of our pair bond. This biochemical orchestra fills me with delight and sensorial want. Kate’s been mulling over what she’ll wear for days.  She’s considered dozens of possibilities and modeled out my anticipated emotional state, the weather, and our planned activities. The colors will be representative of her psychological state and be positioned to soothe mine. The texture, style, and hues will interplay with our biology. The deliberately chosen accessories will add flair, intrigue and play. This is how she flirts, seduces and bypasses my mind to speak directly to my physiology. She has other tricks too. She’s arrived. I must wait for her. Her timidness will want to determine the cadence. I hear the door crack open and her bag drop to the floor. She’s nervous. I’m on the couch, neutral and open. She rounds the corner and our eyes meet. The inhibitions wither as the magnetism draws us together. Soft hellos are whispered and our bodies interdigitate. I feel her finger tips on the back of my neck. Goose bumps light up my body. Skin nerve cells fire signals directly to my brain, bypassing the analytical mind. The hypothalamus dumps the oxytocin, inhibiting fear and lowering cortisol. The body washes itself in this anti-inflammatory chain reaction.  Our respiration and heart beats are now synchronizing. The brain piles on with a release of endorphins to soothe the psychological pain of our separation. New powers are now in control. Let them run in glory. I press my cheek against hers. The skin on skin triggers a wave of desire. I brush her lips with mine, catalyzing a massive activation of neurons in her brain, overwhelming thought and forcing presence. She relents and wants to dance. She’s home. I slip my hand under her shirt and brush the small of her back. Goosebumps spread like a wildfire across her body. Her hypothalamus stimulates the release of GnRH which tells the pituitary gland to wake up her reproductive system. Our olfactory systems consume each other with delight, signaling immune system compatibility. I move both my hands to her jawline, holding her head firmly in place. Our mirror neurons speak to each other. I know what she wants. My lips press against hers and I softly bite her lower lip. Kate’s blood vessels dilate from the acetylcholine and nitric oxide release, flushing her lips, skin and body. The cascade is nearing waterfall. The executive control of our brains surrenders. No longer concerned with the 68 trillion cells. The prefrontal cortex goes dark. Eliminating future planning and probabilistic modeling. Activity in our parietal lobes diminishes, dissolving the boundary that distinguishes between self and other. No longer is there Kate and Bryan, just a singular biological entity suspended in a state of bliss. The outside world goes quiet. It doesn’t exist. We dissolve into raw existence.

@MrCryptoFox No idea. Probably would exist in San Salvador. Maybe Santa Ana. In general the nightlife/culture options are comparatively limited here, wrt Medellin, NYC, London, etc. El Salvador is like the New Jersey of countries in most things.

I wrote this a little more than two months ago. We have had several suicides amongst Bitcoiners in El Salvador. It’s an under-appreciated topic. From every angle, really. Please don’t kill yourself. You moved here for something better. Let’s find a way to build it.

This is exciting...5-MeO-DMT just got FDA breakthrough designation for treatment resistant depression. 193 ppl with moderate-to-severe depression 38 sites 6 countries Patients received either 12 mg (n=73), 8 mg (n=46), or a low-dose comparator of 0.3 mg (n=74), which served as a placebo control. Efficacy Findings + at day 29 post-dosing, a single 12 mg dose reduced depression scores by 11.1 points (MADRS scale 0-60), compared to a 5.8-point reduction with the low 0.3 mg dose. + the 8 mg dose demonstrated equivalent efficacy, suggesting its potential sufficiency for therapeutic benefit. + effects of both 12 mg and 8 mg therapeutic doses were statistically significant compared to the low 0.3 mg dose, starting two days after treatment and peaking at 29 days post-treatment. + both 12 mg and 8 mg single doses exhibited durable effects, with mean depression score reductions of 10.2 and 10.8 points, respectively. Both were significantly greater than the 5.2-point reduction observed with the low 0.3 mg dose. Safety Findings + 5-MeO-DMT was well tolerated at all doses, with over 99% of adverse effects being mild or moderate and no serious adverse effects reported. + dose related increases in nausea, headache, blood pressure, and anxiety suggest the 8 mg dose was better tolerated than the 12 mg dose. + no suicide-related safety signals or concerns were observed. + most treated patients were deemed ready to go home within 90 minutes of treatment Findings from the phase 2a open-label study, using 12 mg and 8 mg doses spaced two weeks apart, showed similar results. These included a rapid decrease in depression score by day 2, maximal improvement at day 22, with a durable effect lasting over 12 weeks of follow-up.

@MrCryptoFox Yeah. Victoria also has an aversion to all sorts of blackness on food, which makes grilling things a challenge. Basically all Russian cuisine is boiled or salted. Some days, I would pay $100 for some Thai food near us but I haven’t found really any good options in all 🇸🇻.

I'm 39. For now, not long. Here's some life/🇸🇻 tips: 1. Women respect you for fighting for yourself ≈more than they will fight for you 2. Women won't fight for you, they'll console you 3. American women aged 34+ are irreconcilably not-yours and are irreperably removed from this possibility, ≈96% 4. El Salvador isn't what you think it is, based on Xitter, Bitcoiner You're welcome. I have a thread about some of this with 14 bookmarks, I guess: x.com/rorshockbtc/st… I'll pause here, but basically, I love @bitcoin_vika , she's great. She's awesome and is so hot someone ≈drugged me at the Halving Party last year just to talk to her and I sat, miserably, watching her dance with a bunch of younger guys with less of a belly trying to seduce my woman, while I was sneezing nose turds and vomiting, and she only had eyes for me. Right now, she's in Taganrog, Russia. They lose power/WiFi a lot, because if you have your phone active, Ukraine will use NATO/US drones to send a drone and blow you up, based on your IP address. If you X search "taganrog" your top results will be randoms saying they're going to drone bomb the city. The difference in the war is that Russia usually targets military installments, Ukraine tries to hit civilian targets like churches, trains, etc. Whatever will be disruptive. There will continue to be celebrations in Ukraine when an attack is successful. The Ukrainians have also had it really bad, but they're using new warfare and seem to have little reserve about hitting civilian targets. It's hard to tell who is right and wrong, from a military point of view. War is messy. :-: :-: :-: Victoria and I first met in early April 2023, about 6 weeks after the Ukraine war started, online. (Yes, I literally have a Russian mail order bride and couldn't be happier). Weeks before that, I was talking to a girl named Inna who lived just west of Kyiv/Kiev. Inna (the girl) was about 12 years younger than me, typical Slav with dark hair and blue eyes (my kryptonite), the enchanting quality of being able to ice skate gracefully while still awkwardly seeking somebody else's approval. In terms of full illustration, that's the best I could ever do to describe Eastern European women. My genesis story for being a Bitcoiner happens in 2017, when I flew to Kiev/Kyiv to meet a girl and did some documentary photography on post-Stalinistic reconstruction (different story!). Turns out that my girl, at the time, was an organizer of the Maidan Revolution, I visited the graves of the 100 and so on. At the time, it felt raw and real, we shared dinners and walked down Khreschatyk (may be misspelling) and I loved the country so much. It felt so proud and up-surgent and hopeful. It felt like the Southern US. It still does. When war broke out, I sent a few hundred dollars in Bitcoin to my ex and her family. I was hoping to get them "out" of the zone. Back in early 2018, I was planning to make a "life changing" investment in her sister's business ($8k) but I screwed things up and had a total mental breakdown and we broke up before I lost all my money and couldn't invest. 1110% on me, not even close to blaming anyone else. But $8k to change a businesses operating income forever...? So, why is this important now? Why re-hash? Well, most of y'all have no experience whatsoever with the impact of the "SMO" (special military operation) which is Russia's legal way of saying "attack Ukraine." Many newcoiners don't understand what it was like for us 5-8 years ago, and most people in the space have been surface enthusiastic and not invested to the same degree I have. These things aren't directly related, but they are indirectly true and relevant to each other. Most of you view citizenship as a right and not a commodity, and you think that every country in the world should agree with your evaluation. Plus, most of you have no idea what the retaliation against Russians has been like. You think "sanctions" are a political term, which applies governmentally, but doesn't apply personally. But Bitcoin is free, and also freedom money. Victoria can't fly through the US or EU; her passport is censored, literally, because she is Russian. One of the biggest reasons we're in El Salvador is freedom of movement, and the main reason I'm aiming for citizenship is for her, not me. Russia can't get plane parts, so they're building their own planes and becoming more independent. This weakens the US and France, primarily. It also destroys international trade between those nations. Good for them, bad for US and the limp-wristed EU. On this most recent trip home to Russia, Victoria took a plane from SS to Rio de Janeiro, a 6 hour bus to Sao Paolo from, a flight to Casablanca, and then a flight to Moscow where she then took a 20 hour train ride south and a 3 hour taxi ride to reach Taganrog, where her parents live, fairly close to the front line of the war in Ukraine. This saved us about $2,000 (one way) and gave her the opportunity to attend Tomorrowland outside Sao Paolo and saving our family thousands in the meantime. Ridiculous to experience such luxury only because it's necessaru tp enjoy convenience. I can only talk to her maybe 1-2 hours a day right now. Otherwise, the internet is shut down due to locally targeted suicide drone. I search "bombs + taganrog + russia" frequently, just to make sure she (likely) isn't dead. As with all war, she's done nothing wrong personally, but it's bigger than her. Even that's diminuitive: it's bigger than all of us. War nowadays isn't really about territory, it's about narrative. Even if somebody dies or is starving or is idk harmed, the question isn't: "Can I help them?" it's "Can this be monetized?" :-: :-: :-: At the moment, I'm sitting on our locally made couch and having a rum (flor de cana!) and coke in El Salvador. The street dogs are barking at each other, somewhere in the distance. Last night, I was trying to fall asleep and one of the street dogs ripped another's throat out in front of our house, to howling and joyously gurgling cacophony. By the time I put on shoes and walked outside, it was over and the other dogs had left. I'm surprised they didn't eat the dead dog. Within expat culture here and elsewhere, there's this sort of camarederie that happens. It's necessary to find good people who can understand you're a moron, more or less. This all makes sense legally and hey, you're new, get some lawyer(s)ing. In practice, the legal system will be so obtuse to you that you can't achieve anything, your legal retainer will become boring to your counsel, and you'll be (mostly appropriately) left to figure it out on your own. If you pre-pay, they'll view you as a liability, not a customer. When you talk to newcomers, they won't be interested in where you came from or who you are or what you recommend. At least, not in El Salvador. Here, the primary goals are ideological, not practical, and if you dissent: welp, you're not gonna be on anybody's podcast or space or whatever, you're cancer. If you do try to share your experience, you'll face headwinds because you are you, the simple pleb, and nobody else will stand up for you. The narratives are bubbles, they apply not only to a subset of individuals, but also to a subset of ≈3 zones in the country. One of those zones (Berlín) has achieved absolutely staggering progress and should be lauded, whilst the other two (El Zonte and ≈San Benito) should be viewed far more critically than they currently are. :-: :-: :-: The header to this post, "women," is that you can't criticize them, legally. It's not allowed in El Salvador, unless you fancy prison time. This "freedom" you've been told about has strict, penalized restrictions on speech. As with most state action, it's done out of an abundance of goodwill. Women were abused in the past; let's create regulation to make sure that never happens again bc deterrents. When Vika flew back to Russia, we had to find flights that not only avoided airports in the US and EU (challenging for Russians), we had to ensure she landed at the correct lane/etc in Moscow. If she landed in the wrong terminal or was put into the wrong lane, she could have been put in prison for having the Xitter app on her phone. The authorities there could scan her phone for contraband. Let that sink in. For the last 3 years, she's carried my credit cards and used my WiFi connections to watch YouTube videos about on-fleek eyebrows. I love her and her entire life is based on what experiences I can unlock for her, digital or cash-wise or whatever, and it sucks. THIS IS THE LEVEL OF MY DOMESTIC TERRORISM. I am not advocating that she should get an automatic green card; in fact, I'd deny her, she's not a necessary American. The point is that if I had to pick somebody, she'd be higher than most. But why, racist?! Is it just because she'd white and has blue eyes? Because her being tethered to me is sufficient. I am telling you this as a non-assimilating, arrogant, utter PoS immigrant to the third world: if my spouse wasn't foreign, I'd be 400%+ more fluent in Spanish. I can't teach her fluent English, can't tolerate customs/ffs-whatever, and my motivation to get it right is: "if you get it wrong, well, go somewhere else and give them $180k and achieve all your goals and then, well, you'll realize that...." My house speaks four languages, Spanish is the fourth and while immediately useful, isn't compelling compared to others.. In terms of citizenship, I already have what El Salvador was offering, instantly, at less than 20% of the cost. I want to be a citizen because I believe in the vision and the hope, but it is frankly not necessary. We can birth-tourism-anchor-baby in pick a jus soli country and be fine (El Salvador, last I checked, is also jus soli (anchor baby)). :-: :-: :-: So where do you fit in? AKA What do you want? Don't "just be yourself" anon. That's attraction. That's weakness. Define what you want, where you want to be, who you want to be, and what type of person you want to do it with. You can do that anywhere, btw. My bet is that you'll find it easier with a Russian woman. She might boil all your food and be really into senseless décor, but she'll love you thoroughly and cherish you in a way you don't deserve. In short, you will be her Bitcoin.

I don't have high conviction either way, whether top is in or there's more to go. I'm not trying to figure that out. All I'm saying is Bitcoin has made multiple all time highs over 18 months, equities have been melting faces for over TWO YEARS, and pretending like the bull run hasn't started yet sounds like tremendous cope to me.
