The numbers from the trip are jarring. If they’re ready to make the Eldridge move, Giants could play Schmitt all over the infield while vets are struggling. At very least, their bench needs help, which is where Rodriguez makes a ton of sense (both were out of AAA lineup today):

@shamgod77 @GiantHotTakes I don't disagree, but he had what? 10 games? He's a star but didn't play a lot in spring, let him get reps in AAA. Disagree again, sitting them a couple games shows them nothing is guaranteed. Schmitt can play SS and you call up Eldridge when you get back to the city for 1B.
