Prime Minister Takaichi's conservative government has announced it will move forward with plans to promote greater acceptance of LGBT people. According to NHK, "in order to steadily promote public understanding, the plan says it is desirable to disseminate knowledge about diversity in a multilayered way through various settings, including schools, communities, families, and workplaces. Specifically, it includes measures such as the national government sharing reference cases to help improve consultation services run by local governments, holding training sessions to promote understanding among teachers and school staff, and making use of school counselors and others to strengthen consultation systems for children and students."
