Center-left people are basically the only demographic of people expected to go and do "hostile" interviews. Trump did basically NONE on his path to the presidency in 2024, NONE of the MAGA or far-left media people venture into hostile territory for interviews, and any time they can interview one of their own, they wind up doing free PR for whoever it is they're interviewing.
HalalFlow@halalflow

Breaking Points to AOC on Saikat Chakrabarti and her media strategy: you need to train for hostile interviews. “You’re not putting in reps if you aren’t facing hostile questioning… if you haven’t had to deal with the questions people have, you’re not going to be good at it… It requires practice.” @krystalball | @emilyjashinsky | @griffinpdavis

@ShaoIRL @TheOmniLiberal I’m a literal nobody and an anime fox girl.. I don’t matter and there is nothing to gain from this. My main problem is his Brianna Wu ass transmed stance and transphobia, especially when it comes to non binary people.. but I think right now we have bigger problems

"Let's talk about social issues" >proceeds to name literally the most divisive and least popular social issues Okay, I'll bite. The first opinion you give on my trans position as being something "just cosmetic" is probably the dumbest criticism I've ever heard of my trans positions before, especially considering that many would consider me a "transmedicalist" (I believe you need to experience gender dysphoria in order to be a transperson). I'm not sure where you've gotten the idea that I think it's "only cosmetic" unless you're referring to my position on neopronouns (stupid) or nonbinary identities (almost certainly 100% a cosmetic thing). I have no clue what you mean by "included in society", and I constantly and consistently support therapeutic (therapy, hormones) interventions for trans people of all ages (especially MtF). I do not believe trans people should be competing in NCAA sports or beyond with cisgender people, though. If you're going to characterize that position as "leans right" simply because I don't occupy the most extreme position possible on trans people, you have absolutely lost the plot, considering my current trans positions put me to the left of probably 90% of Americans and 99% of the world. I don't like the IDF/Zionist talking points because, honestly, none of you really know anything about the region, the peoples or the conflict. My current position on Israel probably still puts me slightly to the left of most Americans (I think both sides need to be willing to grant some major concessions to advance a meaningful peace agreement, and I think America needs to exercise much more stringent control on Israel if we are going to support them financially or militarily). I have no clue what sexual misconduct accusations have to do with political positions. "Constant usage of slurs" like retarded? That makes me "lean right" as well? Then you bring up UBI (unpopular), healthcare (idk what that means, am I supposed to be anti-healthcare???) and affordable housing (am I against affordable housing???). None of these sound like they're coming from a person with a meaningful engagement with politics, they are hollow virtue signals for you to advertise on Twitter for donations/crowd approval. Here are more meaningful stances I make on issues more broadly agreed upon to have a "left/right" distinction that don't collapse into the most divisive, niche issues in the country: - I think climate change most likely represents an existential crisis to mankind and we should be aggressively pursuing investment into green energy. - I think the only meaningful way to deal with illegal immigrants in this country is to enact a large path-to-amnesty program for everyone in this country. - I am staunchly pro-abortion. - I think there should be greater redistributive wealth policies from the government, e.g. higher marginal tax rates on the top few brackets, higher long term capital gains rate. - Broadly supportive of LGBT stuff, meaning gay marriage, treatment for trans youth, etc... - I think we should push for at least a public option in the United States, or some kind of expanded Medicare that covers every one in this country regardless of their ability to pay. If you want to say I "lean right" on something, it would probably be related to gun control (I think Democrats hyper-fixate on rifles and gun restrictions that will do nothing) or foreign policy (I do think the United States should have an active role in the rest of the world), maybe. But trans issues and Israel? Definitely not.
nyara@nyaraVT

You’re calling a low-income trans woman.. rich🧍‍♀️ Well okay, let’s talk about social issues then. Your perception on trans topics is more that it’s a cosmetic change, something like a tattoo, not that this is who we are and we should be included in society like cis people. This is why you don’t want trans women in women’s sports or gender affirming care for trans youth. I wouldn’t call this a left-wing position. How about your support for the IDF? Backing up Zionism? What about your sexual misconduct and treatment of women? Your constant usage of slurs and you being ableist? What’s your view on a universal basic income, healthcare and affordable housing? The majority of what I see from you is that you just like debates. That you have certain viewpoints you enjoy defending, but you just like being the opposition.

@nyaraVT @TheOmniLiberal How is transmedicalism rooted in transphobia? If qualifier for what it means to be Trans is just "self-identified" isn't it a category almost without value? Is having any sort of checkmark beyond self identification right wing?

I mainly see you complain about Leftists and purity testing. Your transmed position isn’t great and is rooted in transphobia. Your biggest complain with Fuentes was that he dropped you. The US dems are overall more right leaning than political parties in the EU, which makes sense considering it’s a two party system that benefits the elite and mega corpos, creating a capitalistic hellhole that makes systemic and class issues worse. It also doesn’t leave much room for nuance because they can always be like “well.. at least we aren’t as bad as those more extreme”, shifting everything to the Right, while patting themselves on the back. When it comes to your stance on the military, gun control etc you are definitely more right leaning, I’d say. I think the major reason why I’d concede to calling you more center-left is because the Right has gotten so incredibly Far Right over the past years. Basic empathy is seen as “woke” and “radical lunatic leftist.” I feel like you just enjoy debating and profit off the status quo and social hierarchy that capitalism is clinging on to, portraying yourself as “the opposition” and “average voter” compared to the rightoids you typically debate.. which is fine.. but as a trans woman, it does make me more skeptical of your own personal position, so I’m glad you clarified some of your stances. I don’t think it’s a good position.. I honestly believe if you go back a couple of years ago it would also be a more right wing position, but because of the rise in transphobia, racism, etc and the shift in the political landscape, you get away with framing it as left leaning.

@gribbo586 @mattyglesias @jonfavs @RebeccaKKatz @ezraklein Which blue dog Dems could have been replaced with further left Democrats? Progressivism isn't even that popular today, let alone 2009. Progressives only win in the safest blue seats, they're never contesting someone like Manchin

@mattyglesias @jonfavs @RebeccaKKatz @ezraklein Dems need a bigger tent right now but I think the 2009 Congress was a cautionary tale of making it too big. Dems could’ve had a better healthcare bill but the blue dogs killed the public option. It was better than a GOP majority but they Dems could’ve accomplished so much more

Don't worry, we already knew that. Socialists/commies will never support anyone who's electable. This is why it's better to turn out your base and appeal to the moderate elements of your base (something most Dem voters prefer anyway) rather than the fringe, weirdo margins who only support candidates with no chance of winning elections.

If you nominate this soulless silverspoon failson, you will lose the election becuase we will not vote for him. You can nominate someone the people want, or you can lose.
