I'm honoured to be endorsed by @GMBSouthern @WeAretheMU @ESEA4Labour @Labour4Europe & @LabourCC in my application to be Labour's General Election candidate for Folkestone & Hythe. Every day, these unions and groups are bringing our Labour values to life: in the workplace, and by helping shape the policies that will affect everyone's future - including in Folkestone & Hythe. So I'm deeply honoured to have their support. Thank you!

@WhitGreens Do you have any evidence it is at risk or is this scaremongering? Surely one would expect rural or smaller libraries like Swalecliffe to be first.

A brilliant new project at the South Quay Shed at Whitstable Harbour, which gives young entrepreneurs the opportunity to bring new products to market and learn about running a business in a live retail environment, is now up and running. Full story: news.canterbury.gov.uk/news/main-item…

The fishermen's tree at Whitstable Harbour is once again getting us in the festive mood. Spectacular! Harbour Board Chairman, Cllr Chris Cornell, said: "It brings Christmas joy to the harbour and is a firm favourite with everyone in the town. A big thank you to the fishermen!"

@julesserkin @WhitGreens @canterburycc @retailmentoring You have the right to suggest a change as part of the councils yellow line review but my argument would be that two hours would just further block the high street and see it as a place people park whilst going for a walk - this would actually reduce support for the high street

@MrWhitstable @WhitGreens @canterburycc @retailmentoring almost impossible to park in Marine Parade or Crescent nowadays Chris - i’ve often tried to park in front & walk in to high street -my point is high street needs more support not 1 hour & then a parking fine - 2 hr fairer to shop & support

We actively encourage walking and cycling but understand it's sometimes necessary to drive. We are running a series of 10 second surveys to get your views on parking in Whitstable.

@MrWhitstable @WhitGreens @canterburycc @retailmentoring so shop keeper has been misinformed perhaps ? i still say 1 hour isn’t enough - dry cleaner, butcher, pet shop , i try to visit them all - & since Cheadle chemist went it’s often so busy at Tankerton Pharmacy- long wait queue out the door - stressful watching for wardens

@julesserkin @WhitGreens @canterburycc @retailmentoring It’s not a plan and if it were it would be a change to yellow lines etc which have extensive consultation and can only be recommended by councillors. I know they haven’t here. In fact the new parking plan out for consultation actually reduces fees in Tankerton coach park

@MrWhitstable @WhitGreens @canterburycc @retailmentoring no not yet - But one of the shop keepers said they were told there were plans for pay n display ? & 1 hour is not enough to support those lovely shops the plant shop eg. said she’d had a very quiet 2 weeks as some of the others - & now tesco metro is selling costa coffee !

@WhitGreens sad to hear @canterburycc plan charges Tankerton #Highstreet ? i believe the current 1 hr ltd is too short to support the small traders 2 hr i think fairer if they put charges peeps will just go Supermarket with free parking high street will suffer -@retailmentoring

“It's hard to think of anything that sums up [the Government’s] 13 years of failure more graphically than the tide of raw sewage swilling down our rivers, into our lakes, and washing up on our beaches.” – @SteveReedMP @SOSWhitstable

It's time to hit water company shareholders in their pockets with heavier fines for dumping sewage in our seas. That’s the message from the Leader of the Council today in a hard-hitting letter to the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak this week. 📖Full story: rb.gy/kg4x0
