@WeAreTeachers I wish people knew how much teachers hate standardized testing and that we wish that districts allowed us to create assessments that best fit our students needs.
@NoTestFL Those standardized tests also don't measure students' unique perspectives, unlimited potential, and continued resilience in dealing with ongoing changes that come with learning in a pandemic.
Not only do Florida's standardized tests waste time, they're also poorly written. Orange County School Board Member Rick Roach, who holds two masters degrees and has a large amount of management experience, failed 10th grade tests in math and reading.

@StandingTesting Imagine a world where there is a collaboration with students to assess their knowledge in an authentic way that doesn't create stress but instead creates an opportunity to show how much they have learned in a way they are proud of.
30 minutes to read four passages and answer 10 questions for each passage creates stress. Most students end up guessing for a majority of them. #NotAccurate
@againststests Exactly one size fits all standardized tests take away opportunities for students to show their knowledge authentically because they do not take in the whole picture of the students they assess.
Wow, our final week in #EDLT561. I have learned so much in such a short amount of time!! Thank you @desertjul for modeling an online course that holds CR/SP at its core. This class has felt more inclusive and community than any others I've taken.
@mickeylover74@desertjul I completely agree! I was very hesitant about using social media in my classroom at first, but I feel confident that I will be able to use social media effectively in my classroom.
As my last AHA reflection, I can say that I will now be able to effectively integrate social media applications to help students overcome technological anxieties. #EDLT561@desertjul
This week in #EDLT561, I'm reflecting on my goals and happy to say that I've learned so much that I can share with my students and colleagues! TPACK, PLNs, Digital Citizenship, and more! @desertjul
I ran out of characters for my shoutout Tweet I also want to shoutout @eddieestrada and @rachegabe and @DeannaS31681630 team We Mean Media was a joy to work and learn with this semester.
For my last Shoutout Tweet, I want to thank @DeannaS31681630 and @debb_marie for highlighting some wonderful resources that teachers can use in their classrooms immediately. Also, thank you to @desertjul for guiding and supporting this amazing #EDLT561 team this semester!
This week in #EDLT561 I am reflecting on my original goals for this course. I am leaving this course with the confidence that I can navigate and seamlessly incorporate social media into my classroom and support my colleagues in using social media in their classes. @desertjul
@ErinGro27782114@desertjul I am really excited to use both of these platforms to create deeper more authentic connections with my students and with their families. I might even learn to play some video games which is something I never thought I would do.
#EDLT561 Week 4 of Social Media in Education has shown me two new platforms: Discord and Twitch. Both are equally interesting to use in my mathematics classroom to create student discourse with my remote students. @desertjul
@TaiyoBrett@Twitch@discord@desertjul I agree 2020 was the year that education had to transform and these tools have incredible potential to really help deepen connections with students and with their families. The possibilities are truly endless!
@Janaya_Bunker@desertjul This 5k has left me with so many tools and ideas to bring back to my school. I can’t wait to use some of these tools and learn about new tools as the years go by.
I learned how powerful Discord and Twitch can be when utilized in the classroom. I think the future of education is moving towards platforms like these. The possibilities are endless! #EDLT561@desertjul
@Seesaw@CommonSense Over the past year Seesaw was the constant in my classroom they consistently listened to teacher requests and worked to create new tools to support students! I would choose Seesaw every time!
This week in #EDLT561 I learned about Twitch and Discord. I realized the potential in both of these platforms. They are more than just games and streaming platforms! What better way to make learning fun than to turn it into a game?! @desertjulyoutube.com/embed/tfRLMCxv…
