When I was growing up, one income was enough to buy a home and support a family. I won't consider our economy a success until we get back to a place where young Americans are able to build wealth, get married, and buy a home by the age of 30.

What's ironic and more than a little annoying is that many of these "tax the rich" types are, globally-speaking, rich. If an individual earns $65,500 in a year, that puts them in the top 10% for annual income world wide. My guess is that most Americans who make $65,500 a year do not think of themselves as rich, though they are living like royalty compared to how most of the world subsists. It's just that they are entitled, spoiled children who take everything they have for granted.

It’s a shithole where I am from.
It’s just like the rust belt or Appalachia.
It’s a bunch of old machinist jobs kept afloat by Boeing contracts.
But Boeing started leaving.
And the old machinists couldn’t find work and started abusing opioids. Pills first. Then H. Now fent.
In my high school, ten kids died in 4 years. All drugs. More died in car crashes.
I think it’s worse than Appalachia-

For some reason Washington is expensive. Look up the housing prices sometime.
50 minutes outside of Seattle, a 1960s townhouse costs you 600k.
It’s the worst state in the country to live in. Horrible weather. Extremely expensive. And now you get taxes too.
I left when I turned 18.
It was cheaper for me to move to LA than stay.
People talk shit on California, but at least the wages match the cost.
And you get the weather.
And a diverse job market.
And the homeless problem is BETTER HERE.
Somehow Washington low rolled every single thing on the board.

A huge draw for Washington state for high earning tech workers was no income tax, no capital gains tax. It made it worth it to suffer through the eight months of rain clouds every year.
But now, why not just go to California and have sunshine if you’re going to get screwed by taxes?
