Met Hon’ble Finance Minister Smt. @nsitharaman ji along with Shri Raj Kumar, Former President of the Southern India Mills' Association (SIMA), to express our gratitude for the Government of India’s decision to suspend the 11% Customs Duty and AIDC on raw cotton imports from June 1 to October 30, 2026.
This timely intervention will reduce input costs, support MSMEs, stabilize yarn prices, and enhance the global competitiveness of India’s textile sector. The decision will also help exporters leverage new opportunities arising from India’s growing network of FTAs.
The move will be particularly beneficial for the Kongu region of Tamil Nadu, one of India’s leading textile and apparel manufacturing hubs, supporting thousands of textile units, entrepreneurs, workers, and exporters who contribute significantly to the nation’s economy.
We sincerely thank Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji and Hon’ble Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman ji for this visionary and industry-friendly measure that will benefit the entire textile value chain and further strengthen India’s growth story.
