Re: NFTs I've seen the space evolve over the past 5 years and generally see two categories (yes, there can be others but would argue they're not yet broadly held and used yet). (1) Art, simply and by itself. Pure JPEG and authenticity. (2) 'PFP' NFTs and the like -- whether it's linked to games, communities, etc., basically everything that's not obviously in category (1). For (1), it's pure speculation for value accrual and depends largely on the proliferation of the artist. As with most art, few winners and areas where most value accrues. For (2), holders do expect some tangible benefit here. If you want the community to be WORTH something, the founders/business model must be aligned with the community. If one wins, so to must the other. Positive feedback... a symbiotic relationship. This underlies the potent network effect of the model. Not much different than holding a traditional asset like a stock, except in this case there's a cultural identity that potentiates loyalty, branding, and community growth. I could go on here, but, to me it's obvious that if a holder doesn't see the direct link between business model success/profitability and appreciation of their holdings (NFTs, tokens, etc.)... the community will slowly fade and, with it, the value of the project's assets and otherwise strongest believers. Founders need to be out there confronting this head on and addressing this elephant -- if they don't, consider it a signal they only see NFT holders as one segment of the market they're selling into. Most NFT projects have slowly drifted away from the ideals mentioned above or simply run out of capital after royalties ceased. Right now is the perfect time to compare how founders and teams are engaging their communities vs. when money was flowing freely (i.e., '21 boom period)... it's amazingly telling, disappointing as it may be. The reason I remain convicted in @pudgypenguins is at every milestone along the way for the past few years, the team has consistently communicated and found opportunities to ensure penguins ate alongside the team, evolving as the space does... prices will be volatile but if you have any belief in these business models and network effects meaning anything, there really isn't many other bets out there worth making right now. If you think this is a knock on other projects, it is... this is a competition to blaze a trail in a new digital economy. Communities want to be involved, they want to help build these projects, but they need some sense of ownership beyond a collectible! Hope your project is bringing you along for the ride and not making you the ride.

So let me set the record straight: Pudgy Penguins isn’t just another NFT collection with a token; it’s flipping the script, blending Web2 and Web3 in ways you haven’t seen before. To every person who’s represented the Pudgy Penguin as their PFP, contributed to building around the IP, and to every member who’s helped create an ecosystem and culture that people are proud to be a part of, I just want to say thank you. The greatness of the Pudgy Penguin has been predestined since mint, and anybody with a knack for culture and community could see that. Yet, through every narrative possible, they tried to defeat us. Unfortunately for them, Penguins do not fold, and we do not falter. Our takeover was not a democratic process, but together, we turned our fate around. I believe a Web3 company is defined not by the technology it uses, but by the nature in which you build. I’ve been a strong advocate that to succeed, our team would have to be the muscle to the brain that is constructed around our NFT holders. It’s this hive-mind approach that has been the driving factor in our success and why I believe we are all responsible for where we are today. Today, the Pudgy Penguins brand is driven around a purpose that has been defined around solving 2 problems: Problem 1: Web3 has a serious branding/top of the funnel problem. Problem 2: Web3 has a extreme distribution problem. Today, I can say confidently, that we are leading the charge in solving these 2 issues and our success in solving these problems has inspired other projects to do the same. You may not see it today, but as I look into the future, I see this snowball effect changing our industry forever. The Pudgy Penguins' success is not just our success, it’s everyone who believes in Web3s success. Though the belief around the Penguin has never been stronger, it is important to realize that we are far from where we want to be. We must remain steadfast as we continue our mission to onboard the masses. The story we’re telling here is the thesis of Web3 personified, and though we’ve helped shepard this story, we are not responsible for it. You are. I am excited to end this year with some more amazing moments and show the world in 2024 what Penguins can really do.
