Family Drama Update: For background: As some of you know, my dad is still married to my stepmom but is also engaged to a woman only one year older than me who looks like my sister and I (Gross). They had been trying for a baby, but he had a stroke and is in rehabilitation. Now: I had booked an airbnb to see him in Spain in September. Called him for his birthday. Learned he moved back to Canada without telling me (typical, but annoying), so I cancel the airbnb in Spain. I also learned that they weren't trying for a kid the natural way. They were trying through IVF and aren't stopping even though they said they would in light of my dad's condition. My dad can't take care of himself and is (last I heard) back in the hospital. My last call with my largely estranged father had him asking me to talk to his fiancé about quitting IVF, like it's my place?! And divorce is not available yet because of some legal trust thing with my dad's family business with my stepfamily?! It's a bloody mess, imo. Nothing for me to do but watch the car wreck continue to happen in new ways because grown adults will make their own decisions about their lives and the lives of unborn kiddos. To be continued, I'm sure...
