@XBrassa @JezCorden Asha was brought in to do the dirty work and maintain / recover Xbox profits...That's pretty obvious. She isn't there to save the brand, she's there to save the bottom line by any means. So yeah, this makes sense.

Hi @JezCorden, I’m a long-time Xbox fan and follower of your coverage. I wanted to share some honest community feedback regarding the current leadership situation. Asha Sharma’s arrival as Xbox CEO created real hope. She spoke about returning to Xbox’s roots, focusing on hardware, core console fans, fixing fundamentals, affordability, and delivering great first-party games. Her early memos and statements acknowledged player frustrations and promised a clearer direction. It felt like a much-needed reset. However, Matt Booty (now EVP and Chief Content Officer) continues to send confusing, ambiguous messages that dilute that momentum. His comments about “nothing is off the table” regarding exclusivity, multiplatform releases, windowing, and other topics create mixed signals right after Asha’s promising start. This leaves fans uncertain about Xbox’s true direction: Are we doubling down on console identity and strong exclusives, or continuing with broader dilution? Booty has valuable experience, but his history with studio closures, cancellations, and past strategies (like aggressive Game Pass pushes) makes his current role in shaping the narrative problematic at this critical transition. The community needs clear, unified messaging — not ambiguity that erodes trust. Asha has the chance to define a new era. Allowing mixed signals from Booty risks weakening her strong opening. Xbox deserves aligned leadership that speaks with one clear, confident voice focused on players and the platform’s identity. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this dynamic. Keep up the great reporting. Best regards,

@IdleSloth84_ How do they still not understand lol. Our money is valuable, if you give us a bunch of free games and 3 months to play them why would we buy anything? Most people don't care that much to purchase once finished

Former Xbox studio executives discuss their opinions of Game Pass They were pretty upfront about echoing what Schreier reported: “Giving games away for 'free' in Game Pass from day 1 sends a message to consumers that the games don't have inherent market value. It almost creates an assumption that these titles could not sell on their own," one said. "It felt like a race to zero.” Jez asked another former Xbox lead with intimate knowledge of the Game Pass strategy previously, who explained that the idea around the whole platform was to offer core games a stable revenue stream as many core users increasingly opt for free-to-play titles, or wait for deep cuts and sales, such as those often found on Steam. They explained that Xbox has an engagement formula it uses to allocate profits from Xbox Game Pass back to studios. Although some studio figures I've spoken to feel that these accounting mechanisms aren't transparent, nor are they motivating for studios — whose bonuses have traditionally been tied to direct sales rather than oft-vague "engagement" metrics. via: Jez Corden windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/so…

Studios' leadership within Xbox detest Game Pass, according to Jason Schreier “There are a lot of people out there in studio leadership within Xbox who absolutely detest Game Pass and think it has destroyed the value of their games. Think it has taken away from the value of all games in general just as a service and just has contributed a lot of just; it's been a detriment to the games industry and those people's views because of how it devalues games.” Jason speculates Game Pass will move away from Day One games in the future. “I think they keep it going, but at some point they're just going to remove day-one sales cuz that makes no sense anymore.”

@sreulet @NextGenPlayer That is absurd, neither Steam, nor Nintendo nor Xbox do this and none of the publishers have stated its an issue. Second, it doesn't change the fact that the capability exists, it just shows they don't abuse it. You should always take worst case scenario as a possibility, imo.

@ZetphFurReal @NextGenPlayer First you know how many things are in terms agreements that may never actually be acted on but just for the companies protection Second the irony complaining about Sony being anti consumer when this exist most likely to combat fraud against their users by 3rd parties.

People really have gone off the deep end. Community Note claims Sony sets the prices of 3rd-party publisher games like Resident Evil Requiem, Crimson Desert and GTA 6 Just absolute insanity on this app
bmoe_carefull@bmoe_carefull

@NextGenPlayer The community note has nothing to do with what he's talking about ... the note is speaking on games PS publish instead of 3rd party games not published by PS like he was speaking of

Dying Light
Dying Light@DyingLightGame·
After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision that Dying Light: The Beast will no longer be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Dying Light: The Beast was built from the ground up to take full advantage of current-generation hardware. Its open world, advanced visuals, and fluid combat and traversal all depend on processing power and memory that previous-generation consoles simply cannot provide. As development progressed, it became clear that bringing the game to those platforms would require compromises that would prevent us from delivering the experience we set out to create. This was not a matter of choosing to leave those platforms behind. Rather, it reflected the technical realities of development and our commitment to delivering the best possible experience. We know many of you were looking forward to playing on PS4 or Xbox One, and we are truly sorry for the disappointment this causes. Anyone who was expecting to play on either platform will be eligible for a refund. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

@NextGenPlayer I'm not saying they put the price higher or lower, in most cases I believe its lower. But the agreement does state pretty clearly that they have full control over retail pricing - discounts I think are not included in this and up to them - they just usually don't abuse it.

So yes, Sony can intervene - it’s their store. If a publisher prices gouges, like say that Steam game that got listed for $1000, Sony can intervene (force price change or delist the game) But in practice, they don’t set the price of 3rd party publisher game. The only two scenarios I’ve seen so far of Sony stepping is (a) when they’ve tested dynamic discounting, and (b) I’m not 100% sure of this, but it does seem publishers set the base US price of games and PS Store currency converts this to local currency (such that prices are more or less equal globally), in other words, it doesn’t appear publishers set currency conversion prices, although they may have influence on them not sure ign.com/articles/the-m…

Yeah, your review of the RX 480 and RX 580 is very similar to your review of the 9060 XT review. The two reviews are basically the same. All you really need to do is update the test results for the newer card. I even mentioned this to Josh over at PCPer. The RX 480 and 580 were great cards for 1080p gaming and solid for 1440p. For the 9060 XT, it can handle 4K too—especially if you use upscaling techniques like FSR. That gets you to a barely playable 35 frames per second. But back when the RX 480 came out, reaching that kind of performance at 4K was just a pipe dream. You would have needed two cards running in CrossFire to even get close, and CrossFire is a dead technology now anyway. But hey, the real question is how close was everyone's reviews to amd's bar graphs that they released when they first announced the GPU? I wonder how close amd's cherry-picked examples were to everyone's reviews. It was slightly slower by 5% which was easily wiped out by driver updates which is very predictable for amds release pattern. But then again, that is also a predictable pattern for Nvidia and Intel as well, but less so for both of those companies because they have all of the resources in the universe respectively until not so much anymore. But you understand what I'm getting it.
