Pamela Gwinnett was convicted and sentenced in her absence for fraud against a widow in her late 80s, as she had gone to Tenerife in breach of her bail conditions, and remains there. I hope she is extradited to serve her sentence in England judiciary.uk/wp-content/upl…

@cdaly72 The Uffizi is fantastic! Well worth paying for a small group tour - I did that with my niece and it was great.

I had the best time at the Uffizi Gallery today. I'm glad I paid extra for a small group tour as I learnt so much from the fabulous guide, Bruce! It was also lovely to meet such lovely people on the tour, all from the US (Chicago, New York and New Jersey).

@cusackandrew There used to be the sort of crummy hotels on Cromwell Road you find in Elizabeth Taylor novels - half pay majors in the dining room etc.

I've always thought London should some sort of non-academic residential colleges: For people of all ages, but mostly young professionals, some almshouse flats for the retired, some family accommodation, a chapel, a dining hall, a library, a bar.
Ellen Pasternack@pastasnack_e

Lots of people's social & romantic lives could be vastly improved if it was normal for young adults to live in college dorm-style accommodation in city centres until they were ready to set up home properly. Why doesn't this exist? I think there would be a market for it!

There is still no “Departure due” date on my bed card. My knee is huge, a giants knee in real time. I will not be heading home, I keep thinking that I am by the shop, but I am still by my telephone.

The only way to remove Starmer is to ensure Reform wipe the floor with Labour on May 7th. Any replacement for Starmer would not have a mandate so would need to go to the country!

@OperaSocialist Nuns have taken Holy Orders and opted out of society. You can’t compare nuns with voting tax payers. Nuns don’t vote. Nuns don’t pay tax. They live in a separate realm.

Apparently Reform and the Tories now have a problem with women praying separately from men and covering their heads. Strangely enough they've never complained about Catholic nuns... #islamophobia #racism

@louderry Edward Stourton is one of the only serious broadcasters remaining in the BBC stable. Courteous, insightful questioning, he engages with his interviewees & listens to their reply and the follow up question is always pertinent. Jeremy Bowen is also head & shoulders above the rest.

Can anyone recommend a politics show in the UK where the public can actually listen to the guests answers instead of the presenter constantly trying to pick a fight?

I’m fearful for our next few years. On issue after issue - migration, energy, welfare and the war - Polanski and Rayner are running Starmer.

Bob Mueller was one of the finest directors in the history of the FBI, transforming the bureau after 9/11 and saving countless lives. But it was his relentless commitment to the rule of law and his unwavering belief in our bedrock values that made him one of the most respected public servants of our time. Michelle and I send our condolences to Bob’s family, and everyone who knew and admired him.

Britain has paid Norway over £100 billion for gas since 2021. For gas they’re drilling in the North Sea, the same sea Ed Miliband has banned new drilling in on the British side. Madness.
