Just watched a judge bend over backwards to accommodate the defendant... waste of a day in court with sentencing deferred yet again. Apparently, threatening to kill, threatening to rape,wilful trespass, threatening behaviour as well as not complying with sentencing from previous conviction of aggravated assault is NOT enough to go to jail... not only that you got your curfew loosened because it is summer and God forbid a tighter curfew would impact on your summer holiday. Ffs... no wonder people don't bother reporting crime.

@kaiviti_cam It's because the prisons are full, that is why they aren't locking them up thy don't have room for them. The government should have turned the Inter Island Aratere on decommissioning into a floating prison, it already had a galley, and added cells, sorted

🛑 NZ 🇳🇿 - Perverting the course of Justice - A dark day for NZ Police. Senior police circled wagons around predator McSkimming, buried victims cries, and shredded Police integrity. The McSkimming case demonstrates how easily any government institution can be hijacked by a small group of rogue actors in senior positions due to their maladjusted ideology and a lack of robust oversight. The ICPA report uncovered serious misconduct by a number of senior police executive officers and has undermined NZ Police as an organisation. There is a deeply entrenched culture of protectionism for the elite within police which has led to this to this appalling failure of senior staff. The ICPA report is thorough, accurate, and is a disturbing read. The ICPA has made 13 recommendations for Police and several for the government all have been accepted. Revewing the evidence which suggests, there is a case for "perverting the course of justice" to be answered. I have always said that Costers leadership was suboptimal and dodgy, and in the coming days, more heads will role as Police continue to clean house and more bad apples will be located. This whole sad event needs to see the full sunlight. I do feel for the current commissioner Chambers and all decent police staff who will be feeling let down from their own corrupted senior staff. NZ Police need a culture change getting back to policing basics and ignoring woke ideologically driven virutal signalling policies. What happens if you are medically unfit for work and your doctor decides to use you as a guinea pig of different medications? Can a person be refused a benefit if they refuse to take a medication recommended by the doctor? Do we actually have bodily autonomy to refuse?

It is hard to overstate how damning the IPCA report is for the former Police hierarchy. They charged a young woman making allegations of sexual abuse against the Deputy Commissioner, and their main focus was on making sure the allegations would not stop him being made Cmsner.
