@lakes_eco_van @MusingsEv @IonityChargers That's a good price but the problem is the subscription. If you don't use them regularly then it's probably better to just pay as you go or use the electoverse card and get a 5% discount.

@Tytalus7 The show note link takes you to a specific web page that allows the functionality to be used without the API. Did you try that?

@MusingsEv Hi Gary, had a look at the ChargeTrip site mentioned. Sounds great, taking vehicle, elevation, weather, etc into account when planning trips… Except: it appears to be a commercial API product, not for us 😢 Wonder who uses it and if we can use that instead? 🤔

@JasonADeane @sainsburys Just clarify for me what the issue is, please: - needing a pre-authorisation - the fact it’s £60 - the time to refund I used a Smart Charge unit and the £60 was refunded within minutes.

Been an EV driver for a few years now. Don't use public chargers very often as I charge at home, but today I thought I'd try the new ones installed at my local @sainsburys in Winnersh. These have been in for weeks and so far no-one appears to have used them, which I thought was odd. So, parked up, plugged in and then discovered there's a £60 charge to use them. I only needed a 10% top up for a long journey I'm about to go on, maybe a fiver as I grabbed a few bits, so that's crazy. If I needed a 'full tank' I'd be looking at over £100, with the promise that the £60 deposit would come back a week later. (I never use devices that require a deposit except in an emergency as sometimes you have to chase to get it back and it's a pain in the arse!) So, topped up at the ones round the corner at @Wickes instead, took 5 mins & no deposit. @sainsburys this is NOT how it's done. Won't be using until you get it sorted. Looks lovely though, a lot of money been spent here, but, at the moment, it's just a waste of parking spaces. Care to comment? Crazy. You’re always talking about how good these FCEVs are, Toyota are virtually giving them away, you live where there are more H2 stations per heads than anywhere in the country.. But you drive a Renault.

@kathy__odonnell They're great. I had one as a company hack when I was in Marseille. Great fun and I swore blind it produced its own petrol it was so economic.. I've now got a Clio RS 220 which is a beast of a machine..

Brilliant design which we almost certainly won't be able to buy in the UK because of the determination of the privatised electricity industry lobby to build an all electric monopoly.

@GordonPaton9 No. Local generation with hydrogen storage a back up. Don't need the grid anymore.

The increase in the frequency of severe weather events is one of the main reasons dependency on expanding the electrical grid is such a dumb idea.

@tiff_tv 45p for seven miles on the Most expensive Tesla Supercharger rate…..any provider charging more is price gouging.

So if you haven't got a home charger - and you probably didn't buy your EV with a nice company discount - the cost of running an EV on public chargers is up to 24p per mile as opposed to 17 for diesel and 16 for petrol!!! It's a painful future for the less well off car buyer ...

@2012ARA1 @KatyDuke @tiff_tv At 80p/ kWh (which is on the high side for public charging) the £80 charging cost would equal 100 kWh of energy charged to the car. For a journey of 93 miles (double that for the return journey - 186 miles) that is an efficiency of 1.86 miles per kWh. Was she driving a truck?
