@PensionsMonkey column idea - Amazon show ‘steal’ shows a UK firm being raided of the pension funds they look after. Got me thinking and looks like UK protection for DC funds is limited to £85k FSCS? That feels very low. Hope I’m wrong - if not maybe we need more protection?

@dsmitheconomics ref AI article - who are these massively scaling AI business selling to if there are so few employees? Surely the cycle of employees spending earnings on goods and services breaks down? Is UBI their solution to perpetuate demand?

@David_J_Robbins I think the sufficient time is the number of years between the age someone can access their pension (age 1) fund and the age at which their state pension will be paid (age 2) at the point they cross age 1. Eg I can access my pension fund at 55 but my SP payable from 67 - so 12yrs

How much notice of a future change in State Pension Age is "sufficient"? HMG's position seems to be that it must be >5 years but not necessarily the 10 years talked about by the previous Government.
David Robbins tweet media
David Robbins@David_J_Robbins

Yesterday, @TorstenBell appeared to rule out increasing State Pension Age above 67 before 2032. Background: The current Government has not repeated its predecessor's commitment to give at least 10 years' notice, saying only that notice would be "sufficient". But when the State Pension Age review was launched, journalists were briefed that it would not be rising further in this Parliament.

@elonmusk Good - but until my M3 can handle dark narrow country lanes near my home in the UK I am think that FSD only makes sense for cities and towns where they are lit by streetlights at night.

@juliandc @_heatgeek @ecobubl Down in Hastings. I spoke to Aira but was worried that it was entirely App based and as a new company if they folded there would be a worry that I wouldn’t have control of the kit

@SimonApperley @_heatgeek It’s worth getting a few quotes. To question the installers. Are they heating engineers, or boiler fitters? Went with Octopus recently for my mother-in-laws ASHP install. They did a good job. Liked Aira, different on service. Are u near Warminster? As I can recommend @ecobubl

Very pleased with my Daikin ASHP. Achieved SCOP of 3.99 for last 50 days. Means 1kWh electricity has generated 3.99kWh of heat (for home & hot water). Efficiency will reduce a bit as it gets colder, improves a bit when it’s warmer. But expect SCOP to be maintained across season

Tesla Y RWD now only available in “standard” spec. (Aka Fleet spec / Taxi spec?) If the premium car tax hadn’t just been lifted to £50k, do we think this WOULD have been £39,999? At £42,000 ($56,100 equivalent fyi) seems quite a lot, great car though it is.

@agile_phil May be worth the App update highlighting to users what battery percentage they can add in 6hrs. I would guess majority of EV drivers don’t know the exact capacity of their cars battery. This of course would need a caveat of assuming a 7kw charger

@YTJustGetATesla My Model 3 is my third EV and I was surprised there is no integration to send/receive WhatsApp messages. Dictating SMS messages is a rubbish user interface too and text way too small for reading. CarPlay is something I really miss - MORE than not having indicator stalks

This Tesla / CarPlay row shows something fairly simple. There are two groups of unhappy people: 1) Car drivers, who think a lack of CarPlay is a Big Problem. Go talk to them. 2) Tesla ultras who think Tesla is the way and everyone wanting CarPlay is wrong. To put it bluntly, Tesla is a car manufacturer. If it isn't manufacturing *and selling* cars in large numbers then it doesn't have a platform for its robotics ambitions nor the cash to fund R&D. If your potential customer base all want a thing and you can give it to them without major issues, why not do so? The "Tesla OS or you are wrong" guff is LEGACY car manufacturer behaviour. Tesla aren't the first car manufacturer to impose a daft GUI and insist it is GREAT. Why are Tesla ultras so bothered by it? Because it shows that normals disagree with them. Its just possible that they might not be right...

@DanNeidle Certainly a key decision in me increasing my pension savings percentage to keep below the level where children benefit for my step-child was removed from my pay. Will help me retire earlier than I would have and become economically inactive too…

I saw that group. Or one similar. I tried to help out for a while, but it was just too much, so I left. It is all far too complex. I’ve been helping clients fill out forms to take benefits. It’s a minefield of accounting and reporting on past legislative changes that people don’t even know if they’re impacted by
