Hands of Mercy, a U.S. based health organisation, has once again joined hands with the Tooro Kingdom Ministry of Health to carry out its annual medical outreach in Uganda, an effort that continues to touch lives in the most meaningful ways. Organised in honour of the birthday month of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, born on 16th April, this initiative reflects a quiet but powerful tradition of giving. Instead of celebrating personally, His Majesty chooses to use this time to serve his people, ensuring that essential healthcare reaches those who need it most across the kingdom. The 2026 health camps begin tomorrow, 13th April, at Buhinga Regional Referral Hospital, in Fort Portal, where children will undergo specialised surgeries to correct deformities, bringing renewed hope, healing, and dignity to them and their families. This continued act of service speaks to the kind of leadership that defines the Tooro Kingdom; grounded in care for others, shared responsibility, and compassion. The Prime Minister, Rt Hon Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire, @toorokingdompm expressed sincere gratitude to Hands of Mercy for their unwavering commitment over the past nine years. He noted that their consistent presence during His Majesty’s birthday month has become a valued part of this tradition, standing as a true reflection of partnership and goodwill. The Prime Minister noted: “As the kingdom comes together with our partners and the community to support this important cause, we warmly wish His Majesty a meaningful birthday month, one marked, as always, by service, impact, and unity.” Omukama ahangirize. #handsofmercy #TheTooroWeDesire @QueenOlimi

Mobile phones were introduced in Uganda in 1995 (Celtel). In 1998, MTN became the second operator. Two years later, in 2000, UTL came on board (071). At that point, there were no mobile phones yet in Nigeria! Nigeria joined the bandwagon in August 2001. Wow!

@BBCAfrica Evolution is still taking place. Perhaps we have chimps that no longer see themselves as chimps. They thus don't like associating with 'chimps'. Who knows?

The world's largest group of wild chimpanzees has split and been locked in a vicious "civil war" for the last eight years. It is not clear exactly why the once close-knit community of Ngogo chimpanzees at Uganda's Kibale National Park are at loggerheads. bbc.in/3Q4OhTw

@BBCAfrica The chimps didn't revolt. It was a science experiment and the fight was triggered by humans...

Something intense is unfolding in Uganda… In Kibale National Park, a once unified chimpanzee community has fractured into rival factions and it’s escalated into what researchers are calling a full-blown “civil war.” These aren’t random clashes. We’re seeing coordinated attacks, patrols, territorial takeovers, and calculated violence. Over 20 chimpanzees have already died as one group systematically hunts down the other. Scientists say this is one of the clearest examples yet of how close chimp behavior is to human conflict power struggles, division, and organized aggression. It’s raw. It’s unsettling. And it’s a reminder: the line between human and animal behavior might be thinner than we like to believe.

@DerrickBazeUG Make a case for application of the duplum rule in Uganda. Common law & Equity have it that interest should never exceed the outstanding principal sum, no matter the default.

An individual borrowed UGX 60m. The bank says that he only paid back UGX 56m. It also admits recovering an additional UGX 15m from selling his land. Shamelessly, it has filed a case for UGX 759,432,500, which is approximately 14 times the loan amount of 60m.

Yesterday marked Day 1 of the 10-day Canada tour operators familiarization trip in Uganda. The delegation was treated to a rich city tour experience, exploring Uganda’s history, culture and heritage through visits to the Uganda Martyrs Catholic and Protestant shrines in Namugongo, Lubiri Palace, Gaddafi Mosque, and a memorable close at the Kasubi Tombs. Such a fitting introduction to the stories, traditions and experiences that make Uganda truly unforgettable. #ExploreUganda | #CanadaMeetsUg

@LenzAfrica I think prioritizing infrastructure development peace and security is the right way because these are investments with guarantee of returns which can be used to facilitate the debt.

@LenzAfrica In my opinion, I dont think prioritizing health is right at this time. Imagine 15% of our budget being allocated to health as per Abuja declaration putting in consideration our raising national debt. I dont think we would be able to facilitate this debt in the long run.

We often wonder why Singapore and Malaysia left Africa behind, yet they attained independence from Britain at roughly the same time as our countries, and their level of development was almost the same as their African contemporaries at the time. Let's see. Singapore spilt from Malaysia in 1965. Singapore is approx 80% ethnic Chinese. Malaysia is 22% ethnic Chinese. Despite minority status, Ethnic Chinese own 70% of private sector assets and contribute 30% to 40% of the GDP in Malaysia. They dominate in SME ownership and key sectors like manufacturing, construction, and finance. Ethnic Chinese businesses are estimated to control about 70% of Malaysian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which contribute upto 40% of the GDP. They pay an estimated 60-70% of personal income taxes and roughly 50% of corporate taxes. Average IQ of the Chinese 106. Question answered. Hahahaha

Arsenal are on track to finish the Champions League campaign with the most clean sheets ever 🫢 The current record is held by Edouard Mendy for Chelsea in the 2020/21 campaign... in that same season, they only conceded FOUR goals 🤯 Will Arsenal be able to break the record... and even win the whole competition? 🤔
