I’m just going to say it. Without addressing the veracity of @TheAtlantic story — or the trustworthiness of its roughly dozen unnamed @FBI sources — I’m struck by the selective outrage from many pro-@FBIDirectorKash apologists. The same people who instantly dismissed The Atlantic report because it relied on “unnamed sources” were equally quick to accept as gospel truth the @CBSNews story citing just three unnamed FBI sources who supposedly vouched for the existence of a video showing Shauni Kerkhoff “playing with her puppies” at the exact time the gray-hooded bomber was planting explosive devices at the RNC and DNC on the evening of January 5, 2021. You know who you are. I’m keeping a list for Santa. The Kerkhoff puppy alibi is already on its third iteration — which makes those “three sources” barely more credible than the video itself. By Christmas, some of you will be eating burnt crow jerky straight from your stockings. And that’s before we even get to the failed polygraph, the law firm claiming Kerkhoff doesn’t have a limp (despite actual, time-stamped, publicly available Capitol CCTV footage showing otherwise), or the @CIA granting the @nytimes an unprecedented sanctioned interview with a currently employed officer. I get the tribal instinct. You don’t want to believe unnamed FBI sources speaking badly about Kash Patel. Fair enough. But why did you immediately swallow the claim that unnamed FBI sources had seen an alibi video of Ms. Kerkhoff — a video no one else has ever seen? A story that has conveniently evolved from “playing with her puppies,” to “caring for her dog,” to “well… Kerkhoff isn’t actually in the video, but her voice can be heard in the background?” Never mind that cellphone video metadata can be forged in under five minutes by my 14-year-old nephew. Imagine what an agency that routinely creates fake passports, alternate identities, and entire life histories for its operatives can do with a simple video. The same agency that has openly admitted to misleading Congress on multiple occasions. So the choice is straightforward: 1. CBS News’ three unnamed sources claiming to have seen video of Shauni Kerkhoff “playing with her puppies” at the time of the bomb planting? Or … 2. The Atlantic’s roughly dozen unnamed sources claiming to have witnessed FBI Director Patel’s frequent alcohol impairment? Choose your mainstream media deep-state mouthpiece carefully.
