No it is absolutely done in anger or frustration that is why it is wrong. It also just proves the parents are mentally/emotionally unstable. People thinking clearly do not hit regardless of situations/circumstances. No hitting a child is never self defense.

@AsTG08 @ARyanZeh @StefanMolyneux It's different because (1) It's not done in anger or frustration (2) It's not done when a kid is old enough to dicip in other ways. Yes, it's totally different. Most of my kids don't even remember being spanked. The one who does remembers sitting and talking before it.

God knowing your future choices doesn’t cause or force them. Knowledge ≠ control. God exists outside time— all moments are “now” to Him (Boethius). He sees your free choice the way you see it happening, without forcing it. You still could have chosen otherwise. Foreknowledge tracks your freedom; it doesn’t cancel it. Moral responsibility remains: you chose freely, so justice applies. Omniscience, omnipotence, and real free will are fully compatible. The “paradox” assumes God is stuck in time like us. He isn’t. Classic error—doesn’t hold up.

If God knows everything past, present and future, He is all-knowing. If God knows the future, He cannot change it, therefore He is not all-powerful. If God knows the future, we do not have free will. We cannot be punished for our choices if they are not in fact choices.

@JayDyer @StefanMolyneux It’s obviously going to depend what you mean by free choices and how you view the properties of god. You haven’t provided a substantive rejoinder. Stefan needs to flesh out his argument so that the meaning is captured but let’s not pretend you’ve saved classical theism.

Only if you assume God perceives time the way we do. What if knowing something is going to happen is the same event as it happening — just experienced all at once? We see beginning and end as separate. God may not. He is the Alpha and Omega — not two points on a line, but one reality we’re just moving through sequentially.

Can anyone from the nutrition academic community explain why 10s of thousands of people doing carnivore, not eating any fresh fruit or vegetable for months, years and even decades have not developed scurvy? If it was down to eating fruits and vegetables then surely almost all of them would be dead by now!

@Mutant_Heretic @TheLaurenChen Sure. I’m not saying it’s ideal to get pregnant at 40. My point is it’s possible. Everyone has different circumstances. Not everyone can have children when they’re 24.

@Randy_from_Fla @EndWokeness I am brown, and I say yes, this is how she should be portrayed. Or have a disclaimer in the film that historically the character was of Caucasian ancestry, and please consult your local library for more information. You can even say but she was chosen because of her performance.

@EndWokeness Grok's version of Helen of Troy based on an historical statue. It first did her with black hair, then I asked wasn't she supposed to have blonde based on myth? It said yes and redrew this.

One of the things foreigners are most surprised by in Japan is not Mt. Fuji. Not sushi. Not even ramen. It is the toilet. Heated seats. Washlets. Privacy sound buttons. Lids that open automatically. American toilets: You accidentally make eye contact through the gap in the door. Japanese toilets: They warm your butt. TOTO makes over 700 billion yen in annual sales. More than 60 million Washlet units have been shipped. Japan may be the only country in the world that turned “butt comfort” into a real industry.

@SBakerMD just a side point - I take Vit C supplements and do enjoy the occasional strawberry or apple, precisely because I think Vit C is important and not sufficiently provided by my meaty diet. I wonder how many other carni-based diet folk do the same?

@RobinKylemusic @SBakerMD There are very few people, relatively speaking, on the carnivore diet, so we can only speak anecdotally about how sustainable it is. The vast majority of anecdotes tell us it is social pressures not health issues that lead to a few abandoning it.

@TheLaurenChen I had my youngest at 40. I have so many regrets. That’s 20 years that I won’t get with her and my other children. I’m so tired all the time. I emphasize to my children that they should have their children while they’re young.

@strfromthestars @TheLaurenChen The other problem is that you are way less effective sleep deprived at age 40 than, say, 24. Parenting the energetic part is a lot more difficult when you get older. These women can hire nannies. I say this as a man who had his child at 35.

There's so much in this. She is treating sex as if it were masturbation, and the man as a sex toy. She has created an emotional distance between her own body and her feelings. Kissing broke that boundary and brought the two into contact, and she found her own actions repulsive.

@StefanMolyneux It’s a thing with creative people. Their career comes first. It’s more than a career to them, it’s their whole life, with no room for anything else. Many musicians, particularly males, don’t marry, no children, and instead go from relationship to relationship

Honestly, I am diabetic but not because I was ever fat. There is a population of people that have type 2 that are of normal weight or under weight. I was reading about why this was a game changer for larger people. They have insulin resistance but not in the range of being a diabetic. It's a hormone that regulates blood sugar. When this happens, your pancreas pumps out more insulin to try and "force" glucose into your cells. As long as your pancreas can keep up. These people are in a pre diabetic range. Doctor's don't treat pre diabetics even thought they have insulin issues. It's like a vicious circle for larger people. They can't lose it because of the insulin issues. The doctor waits to treat it when they pop up as diabetic.

Given the amount of times I've been told I'm on Ozempic (when all I did to lose weight was stop eating carbs and sugar and got more steps in), this doesn't surprise me at all. And it's ridiculous. I went through serious sugar withdrawals for like a month and a half. It sucked. I totally understand why people take Ozempic.
