Spent the last few hours diving deep into the evolution of tech - and especially infrastructure. Every time I take a step back to connect the dots, I’m struck by how fast the paradigm is shifting. ----- Here’s one of my more controversial takes: In infrastructure - everything will become specialized. For years, the narrative was clear: abstraction, generalization, modularity. “One-size-fits-all” infra layers. General-purpose blockchains. Rollups for everything. Universal data availability. Cloud-like compute. But what’s actually emerging, is the opposite trend: Deep specialization. - Specialized execution: high-frequency DeFi chains, gaming L2s, AI coprocessors. - Specialized consensus: tuned for latency, throughput, or governance flexibility. - Specialized hardware: GPUs, FPGAs, ASICs — baked directly into protocol economics. - Specialized liquidity and bridge designs: optimized for specific ecosystems. - Specialized middleware: vertical stacks fine-tuned for one class of apps, not generic ones. ----- Infra is evolving to look less like AWS - horizontally modular, and more like Tesla’s supply chain - vertically integrated, laser-focused, built for purpose. And that’s where things get really exciting for us at MultiversX. Because the next phase isn’t about doing everything, it’s about doing one thing better than anyone else. It’s about finding the layers where specialization compounds, where integration becomes an advantage, and where efficiency defines dominance. We can already see this shift across Web3: - Stablecoins have achieved PMF and are now vertically integrating their entire stack for speed and reliability. - Perpetuals and prediction markets are doing the same, optimizing liquidity, UX, and infrastructure end-to-end. So the big question isn’t if specialization will happen - it’s where each ecosystem will plant its flag. ----- For MultiversX / EGLD, this is the moment to define exactly what we’ll master, refine, and own completely.
